Purist Audio Design sells a 1.5m cable for $25,000. They have been in business for 30 years

Absurd. Even if there were a difference on paper, I doubt anyone hears the difference, a difference that would warrant any such price.

Ah, psychology…
The price warrants the difference.

Unless he has his own personal power line he's likely working with a compromised setup.

If 82 year old Japanese guys can hear the difference, so can you!

Michael L wrote: Mon Nov 12, 2018 6:56 am I found that it depends on location in the signal chain. I bought expensively-shielded cables from my CD player to Amplifier, where there are strong magnetic fields. I could hear the difference from my cheap cables. I don't think it makes a difference for cables to monitors, though.
Well, shielding is a separate thing, and as Ethan Winer showed in the video, if the cables aren't in the same location, they'll pick up different levels of hum. Obviously.

The point is rather that given the same environmental conditions, a $10 cable works just as well as a $700 cable, ergo the Audiophile argument is BS.

Wow I didn't think this warranted even a controversy but apparently it does. Guess every day gives me more of a reason to dislike audiophiles. Their whole culture seems to be that the more it costs, the better it has to be. Which suits "hifi audio retailers" just fine.

:borg: Hey, even Tracktion got in the audiophile game with their $5000 two-channel USB 2.0 audio interface:

Tracktion describes it as a "hand-built hot rod of unparallelled performance."

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

I don't think so. I was merely pointing out the irony...

Either way, if over the years I write like a dozen posts that some fools consider insensitive, that's one tenth of a percent of my posts, i.e. anything but "usually"
