I do not know if this helps with SF2.....

A lot of times it depends on how the SF2 file is made, using which tools.

For instance - ESC can make a proper conversion from an SFZ file - the loop points are embedded in the audio file. Yet if you take that file in VSampler to set a root note the loop points are located outside of the actual /WAV file which the SF2 file is containing. I discovered this by attempting to load earlier SF2 files I had made in this way in TX16Wx....

The best way, I have found, to make SF2 files that play properly in any instrument is to use Viena and make them by hand. Yes, it is a pain.

You can also check them using Polyphone.

Like I said - I do not know if that hepls at all. It seems SF2 files are made in a variey of ways.

Dnekm,

Agree that the creation tools have very much to do with the integrity of the end sf2 file. Too many changing protocols over the life of the extension. Throwing in some time tests which I hope are not just more of a distractor. Obvious that win 7 needs more testing because win 7 is alive and well for a long time to come.

Timings were done in win 10, Reaper 64 bit current version, i5 processor and enough RAM.

Wanted to note that CrisisMidi grand piano tunes fine (never caught that it did not...thanks Goldglob). All the clarinets load fine. Problem with the acoustic bass motor boating verified, but works well in TX16Wx and SampleLord (x86).

Tried these in fresh Reaper 64 projects with only one track and only a single vsti. Seems however can't get entirely free of some residual effects until rebooting, so grain of salt has to be taken.
Crisis GM is a good test environment. It is over big and throws too many variables at whatever is trying to play it.

Virgin Eve 5 project now loads Crisis in 7 seconds. Everything else in the banks load in real time. Wondering however about the RAM involvement. If waiting for several minutes to select an individual font within the bank after being recognized, the "processing" phase gets extended for some time, almost like a new reload of the entire bank. Feels like RAM being dumped and recycled.

TX16Wx loads Crisis in real time, but takes 16 seconds to load the Acoustic Bass. Arrow pointing at something wrong with the font rather than the plugin trying to read it, although it does load and play.

SampleLord takes 16 seconds to load Crisis, after which the individual fonts are immediate.

Hope any of this helps rather than distract.

Just installed Windows 7 in a virtual machine, but I can't reproduce the slow install problem yet. :dog: Darn thing... I will see if I have all the updates, but the ISO is from 2017, so it should be up to date.

Ok, Fernando (Fmr), please, could you test a set of files? I uploaded just now: WIN_Wusik_EVE_744_Test_PluginsOnly.zip

This I compiled with just the Microsoft compiler, not the Intel one. Just to check if this is stable, if it is, I got some ideas here. ;-)

Thanks again.

When first loaded as part of a preset, the Multi filter doesn't work properly (the Freq settings are frozen)...only works if I replace it then load it again.

Ok, I will take a look, also, could you also test the file above to see if it is stable on handling SF2 files? Thanks.

OK, WIN_Wusik_EVE_744_Test_PluginsOnly (VST2 and VST3) loaded up fine. Still the problem mentioned before..Prog 32 CrisisAcousticBass (distortion) and just found another, prog 38 CrisisSynthBass01..crackling. Clarinet seems ok now. (I realize you haven't had a chance to look at these problems yet).

But the 74 crashes and how about 744?

Post

744....still a few crashes...on re-load of REAPER and EVE sometimes ok..seems random...?

I just tested and things are even worse than they were yesterday. Now, I just had to load a Multi and click in Instance 2. Immediate crash. Tested in VSTHost (VST2) and REAPER (VST3)

Can't you get back to where you was a week or a week and a half ago? Apparently, things were almost OK back then. You could perhaps revise the changes you made.

I will test tomorrow in Windows 10.

William and fmr, I'm not getting the crash clicking another instance in a multi....maybe it's to do with the browser refresh when you do that...I mean the way the browser collapses then expands again....fmr's system is not handling that?

Not getting any slow down with the installer on win 7 pro, and the machine ancient old quad core before the Intel i series even.

Found another preset in Crisis that bites the dust, patch #95CrisisHaloPad, not that this adds anything more to the diagnostics.

What is so cool about EVE is that you can create new folders in the shared data folder for soundsets, dump in anything supported and it is there for use. SoundFonts for the most part load appropriately. Something about so many of the old sf2 brass files that still send a thrill. Properly layered and panned, the sounds are incredible.

Also thankful that Fernando and Goldglob are on the track of the multi issues. Too complex for me to understand.

It was handled before

JohnK,
yes HaloPad crashes REAPER here but it's 94 not 95 yes?
92 is scratchy.
95 is distorted.
I still haven't been through every program.

Tomorrow i will work harder and fix it all. Fernando, the old code wasn't working on vst3, all this craziness is due to the fact it must work on vst3. As the format now seems to be most used. Still, I got some other ideas... ;-)
