9 DOWN 8 to go. plugging along on the Ensoniq VFX transwave wavetables for Surge.
it is painstaking recording them as accurately as possible, but i want my VFX
to live on in SURGE!

Update: ok, all 17 of the classic VFX transwaves are done.
im sure any one that has or has owned a VFX will love to have these
in their Surge arsenal. I carefully sampled the dry waveforms
from the 0 position and another from the 99 end position.
i then went in with wavosaur wave editor, cropped out a single
cycle for both then created a morphed Surge .WT between the two with Audioterm.
now, the original transwaves have i'm asuming 100 partials
since you can modulate from 0-99 on the hardware, Surge wavetables
only have 34 (0-33) but hey... 1 out of 3 aint bad!

Next i plan on creating a set of short, one-shot unlooped attack
transients out of the rest of the VFX PCM rom waveforms.
this way one can come close to recreating some good o'l
VFX sounds in SURGE!
i'm not sure what the status is on Making the current versions of Surge use
.wav files like the older v1.5, so those files may be of no use
for v1.6 users ATM.

stay tuned!

Care to share the wavetables? Would love to try them with Surge and other wavetables too. I can post them in other formats once converted, as retribution.

First off, thank you to everyone who resurrected this synth, I appreciate it a lot, and I definately respect the effort that went into this.

Can we make feature requests here?

I'd really appreciate it if the waveforms would move and change to show the effect of modulation like they do when you use the mouse.

Thank you.

That's pretty cool. I'd deffo be interested in them as well. I have an Ensoniq but it saves me the work! :)

Should be quite a complimentary match - the gritiness of the VFX and the smoother rounded Surge.

I'm really impressed with this synth. Low cpu, wide range of sounds, lots of excellent and varied presets. I've done a sort of euro-techno one synth demo with it in Ableton, including drum sounds. All from other's presets of course. It's hardly the Pet Shop Boys, but I don't mind putting the live pack up for download. It sounds great considering there are absolutely no FX at all. Then again, I did monitor it through laptop speakers!

Hi,
thanks for your work with Surge. But, latest builds have problem with zoom in Renoise. After reloading zoomed plugin(for example 125 %), loaded 100 % zoom with smashed up elements of gui. Unworkable total chaos.

it will be some time before the devs get it working
right under all platforms and daws. we report problems and wait.
thats all you can do.

heres a video i made of me making classic VFX patch from scratch for Surge
using a VFX Transwave i made and an attack transient wav from
a VFX PCM sound, and the built in FM osc.
i'm no live player so excuse the chimp at controller playing.

Anyone?

the Mac build is still in its infancy. i hope they figure out why you can't see 3rd party WT's
and i hope they implement the ability to use wav files like in the WIN 1.5 version.
like i said above, all you can do is wait for an update.

Thanks -- and, with or without extra WTs, it's already a great synth to have on the Mac 8)

the synth is BRILLIANT. i love it and i am learning it inside and out. i plan to release more wavetable sets and some of my own presets...the presets will be more of template presets rather than small variations of others.

i prefer sliders to fiddling with knobs. this is indeed a dream synth.
it has taken over Spectral for my wavetable synth duties on my tracks.
can't beat the sound and low CPU consumption.

it was said elsewhere "Omnisphere, halion, kontakt, zebra, serum" (or whatever) "and you are set for life"
BS.
Surge, shortcircuit2, and a good VA like Charlatan, obxd, pg8x and Synth1 will do
without breaking the bank, CPU, or HD space. come at me dummies :box:
