Given that ED scripted some of my favorite Kontakt libraries (Hollow Sun - btw, what’s up with them since their founders untimely passing), and knows his shit in general I’m thankful for his input on the forum.
Not to be all Kumbaya (I hate that shit, and hated “Imagine” lol) but not getting all the personal attacks when we all share a common hobby/obsession.

Yes Kontakt scripting is my dayjob. Yes I do beta testing for NI, u-he, Modartt, and some others. I have done exactly one product for NI and was compensated for that. My opinions are not on a payroll, though. I've loved NI products ever since Generator, so there's that.Stefken wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:43 pm Funny.
I raised the same question today because ED talks like a NI salesman. If I'm correctly informed he does Kontakt scripting and is probably on their payroll as well.
Hardly objective and it shows ...

Mind you, I like this synth. But I hear: don't worry about two oscs, you get 3 more with the inserts. Don't worry about only one filter, you get three more basic with no res in the inserts (though I like to use a creative filter like double notch, parallel with a res filter). Easy to add distortion before the filter, just use an insert. But you only have 3 inserts - I think they'll get used up quick.
The inserts are powerful, but I think they are the bottleneck of this synth. Maybe the'll add more in an update.

ED is very helpful, and has made many great contributions over the years.chk071 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:02 pmSo what? He's allowed to have a opinion just like anyone else. Should one have to justify for liking a plugin? I don't think so.

Hardly objective and it shows ...
And even i, with my limited knowledge, can say that this aliasing thing is most probably incorrect. Aliasing happens in the higher registers. The sine wave in Massive X produces harmonics over the whole note range. Can't be aliasing, AFAIC. Maybe there's some on top of that, when you go up the frequency. As far as i understood it, every digital synth aliases.
Nevertheless, bias is a factor when evaluating the objectivity of ones statements. It’s a huge issue, such that it has become common practice to make disclaimers when affiliated with a company, and why objective third party reviews, assessments and certifications are very valuable. While not necessarily exactly the same situation, would you trust a five star review on Amazon from someone that is given the product for free in the same way as someone that had to depart with their hard earned cash? I think it’s very reasonable to not do so.
I think it’s odd that some people would choose to ignore bias depending on the person or situation. It doesn’t mean that one should outright dismiss that persons opinions, but I don’t see how one wouldn’t or shouldn’t take it as a factor when evaluating that opinion.

I totally agree, yet sadowick was resoundly attacked for what seemed to be a reasonable although perhaps flawed analysis (I’m personally unqualified to make that assessment myself since I have never analyzed aliasing or nyquist anything in my life and frankly have no desire or intention to).JoeCat wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:08 pm Given that ED scripted some of my favorite Kontakt libraries (Hollow Sun - btw, what’s up with them since their founders untimely passing), and knows his shit in general I’m thankful for his input on the forum.

Check his other vids. He's not the most knowledgable guy. No offense meant. It's just that there's a lot in those vids which just isn't true at all.perpetual3 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:27 pmI totally agree, yet sadowick was resoundly attacked for what seemed to be a reasonable although perhaps flawed analysis (I’m personally unqualified to make that assessment myself since I have never analyzed aliasing or nyquist anything in my life and frankly have no desire or intention to).JoeCat wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:08 pm Given that ED scripted some of my favorite Kontakt libraries (Hollow Sun - btw, what’s up with them since their founders untimely passing), and knows his shit in general I’m thankful for his input on the forum.
