Guitars with Evertune or properly set up Floyd Rose bridges can easily keep tuning for months.

I've never seen that happen with other bridges, at most it can hold tuning for up to a week maybe. No matter how much I make sure all contact points are lubricated and everything is balanced. Even with expensive guitars. Thicker strings seems to help a bit.

Maybe there is something I don't know about how to set it up properly, or maybe it depends on how sensitive the ears are, or the climate where I live.

I know that I should change strings more often, but I'm lazy. I do keep whatever my current favorite guitar is with fresh strings, but some can hang on the wall for months before being picked up or played. Elixir strings usually last quite long though.

Indeed. I'm always very wary of marketing bollocks, but following the positive recommendations of a few people on here I thought I've give them a go. Had them on the Variax and main acoustic and 12 string for probably around 6 months now, and whilst they've lost some of the brightness, the intonation is still absolutely spot on. Didn't notice any of the 'slipperiness', some people do, but with the way I play it probably would make no difference anyway..

I have a love-hate relationship with Elixirs. Longest lasting, and best sounding of the coated string I've tried, they seem to take away from the sound of how a guitar 'should' sound, based on decades of using uncoated strings. It's hard to describe, but people who hate them will probably know what I'm talking about. Also, they seem to die abruptly. No slow degradation of sound over time, just...one day, they sound lifeless and won't intonate properly. I like the reduced squeak on the strings. I put a set of normal daddarios on my Walden, to see again if I prefer normals.

My 2 MIDI guitars have all the same string, a C(midi 48).
I decided to try flat wounds for that-
and I think the 2 controllers feel great like this.
When my monitors are turned right down, the synthesised sound still defeats the atonal Cs now worries.
I would recommend flat wounds on feel.
After 2 weeks of regular playing the slight sharpness they have gets buffed/gunked out.

I'm one of those who changes strings when they break-
but maybe I'd think about more regular changes if I played acoustic
(which would be dreadnought and nylon classical),
I do fine without an acoustic, I just miss one when the power goes down.

I saw a video showing a guitar tech stringing one wind above and the rest below, clamps the string end in between. I've started using the method, heard about it the past but never tried it until now.
It might help tuning stability.

I have exactly the same string height gauge - it's so quick to check with it, and it's long enough to sit across quite a few frets so you can get it really flat against them.

Sorry to hear about you CTS, hope things improve. That's one serious guitar.

Embarked on some online window shopping at EVH and Kramer. The Wolfgang standard was a surprise. It all started after watching this lad get on onstage with Steel Panther and shred.

I've been pipe dreaming a classical guitar. (Someone borrowed mine in the 90's and it's not been returned)
Been dabbling with some sight reading for classical guitar, really tricky on an acoustic due to the string spacing, keep hitting the wrong strings.

So, last night, the field got picked and whittled down to a Fender,Yamaha, Hartwood and a Epiphone. The Epi came out on top, that badge will have come off the headstock though.

Any suggestions, really need a 50mm/53mm nut and a scale close to 650mm.
I think the Hartman is a in-house brand, maybe that's why it sounded louder and tweaked in the videos, pushing their own products, maybe. Sounded bright, might be the materials.

Man, that is WAY outside of my finger radius.

I prefer 42mm, and 43mm is a stretch!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a Charvel Model 1 pro mod and a Jackson Dinky JS34

The Pro Mods are MIM and the JS are CIC.

Honestly I like the Chinese version more than the Mexican.

The Chinese has Jackson Pups which are similar but not the same as EMG's It's a little bit darker than Seymour Duncan's and has a hair less output. It also has a Jackson slightly rounded "C" profile through and through. It's thin, Not as thin as an ibanez wizard. The fretboard feels great the frets are nice and even and the back has a semi-gloss feel (it's not the end of the world). The trem is also a Jackson based on a Floyd Rose. There is a little bit of rock to it. But I love the tone and the play ability.

On the other hand the MIM has a much thicker Modern C shape that also has a little more width at the nut. The frets are for crap with sharp edges. The pups are SD's and the Bridge is a very solid Floyd Rose.

So I would strongly suggest trying it before you buy if possible.
