Is that a Korg keyboard, by any chance?

Post

Yes, it is a Korg, from the MicroKey series.

My Korg padKontrol vanished after the last W10 update. I tried installing the new drivers but did not work. I tried uninstalling all the drivers tools from the program manager and reinstalling, and same results. I finally noticed in the device manager that for some reason the Korg DriversTools installer was not actually installing the new driver.

After deleting the driver from the hardware device manager and reinstalling, it is working again, even though the rest of utilities (or tools) that are installed do not see it and give an error if you try to run them. The padKontrol editor works fine, though.

There has been a lot of problems reported with Korg drivers after the last W10 update.

DriverStoreExplorer might be worth a try if you're having problems getting rid of drivers (e.g. duplicate or redundant).

Thanks, José. I have just done what you did (I think), let's wait and see if the problem has gone away :)

Unfortunately it didn't work.

Just noticed something funny:
When the sound is gone in Reaper, I can, as already said, restore the sound by merely opening and closing the ASIO4ALL settings window.
However, it doesn't seem to be about the audio because when I play my synth's virtual keyboard with the mouse, the sound is still there while not so when playing on the physical keyboard. So, it is a Midi problem in Reaper as well, just like in Mulab. But for some reason the audio driver is somehow related to Midi in Reaper.

Does Reaper allow you to disable then enable attached controllers? Have you tried that to see if it restores functionality?

Post

Yes, I can do that in Reaper, but disabling and enabling the controller does not work from within Reaper. It does work in the Device Manager, though.

I have found an email address in a Korg file, one can send driver bugs directly to Korg Japan. Maybe they will look into it...

Worth a shot...

Have you checked that you actually have the new driver version installed after doing it? (Right click in the device in the device manager to find out).

Post

Yes, it is the latest version from July 2019.

MS has released a new patch for W10 yesterday. I have just installed it, maybe it has fixed what they screwed up and I don't have to wait for Korg to do it.
The list of bug fixes is long:

We'll see. Thanks for the heads up.
