Disable midi input channel preview in FL?

I use FL, and if you have a midi controller plugged in (such as a keyboard), it will automatically play notes on whatever channel you have selected (Even if that input device is set to a specific port).

Anybody know if there's a way to disable this?

Curious
If you don't want to use it, why not click off 'enable' in the config dialog?

Because I need midi inputs to effect the ports (and thus VSTs) that they are assigned to.

If you have midi routed to a channel/vst, the vst will play notes as it receives them. However if you also have that channel selected, it will play notes twice, because it is playing the notes it receives, while also using those same notes to play the channel preview.

Oh!
Then lock the VSTi channel in the channel rack to the port desired (right click > receive notes from). Works in 20.6 test today...

It still seems to receive notes from the midi keyboard when selected, even if I set it to receive notes from something else.

Couple brief demo - not a problem here - three VST's locked to different controllers - selected channel does not receive from other than its own...

What are the specifics of how it works exactly? It seems to behave strangely. For example if I have two channels
(With the midi keyboard on input 0)

1. M1 (port 0) (receive notes from midi controller)
2. Wavestation (port 1) (unlocked)

If I select M1 channel, it plays the note twice. (I can tell because of the "overlapped" esque sound.)
If I select the wave station channel, it no longer plays preview notes (which is ideal, but M1 still plays twice, even though it isn't even selected).

Ah, never mind, I think I see.
You can't have midi input port set to anything on the channel. Should be ---
And then you just use receive notes from.

I'll test this out and see if it works fully, thanks for the help!

I actually have all the vsts in ports set to the controllers. (though seems to work either way)

There was also a problem were "receive notes from" was not receiving all channels for some reason. The only way around this was like so,

1. VST (set to port of midi controller)
2. Blank channel (set to "receive notes from" midi controller)

This results in the VST receiving all the notes, and the blank channel is essentially just there as a dummy to receive the "preview" notes. Convoluted but it works.

Whatever - dunno.
