Yeah, and zoom does weird stuff in VST2, apart from the fact that VST2 is officially deprecated by Steinberg.Autobot wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:53 pmSo you would recommend to use vst3 over vst2? But we aren't discontinuing the VST2 (nor could we. You have the files!). We are just trying to get everyone to use the VST3 going forward.Dandruff wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2020 3:57 pm Can the VST3 version replace the VST2 version properly in existing projects already (VST3 version can load with same settings as VST2)?![]()

We are working on that right now - the nightly has an alpha skin engine and we have an alpha dark mode. Not ready for general use yet but will be in good timeAutobot wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:51 pm Surge makes a lot of fun, love the latch function to build up drones. Thanks for all the time and work put into this project. Anyway, I wonder if there is a way to change the colors of the UI?

Absolutely. Aside from the fact that Steinberg has completely killed vst2 for new devs and you can’t get the code and so forth, the vst3 has proper support for zoom, is properly licensed for open source software and more.Autobot wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:53 pm So you would recommend to use vst3 over vst2? Wow. Just tested the nightly build and the dark skin. I'm impressed. Fabulous! Thanks. Can't wait for the official release.baconpaul wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:05 amWe are working on that right now - the nightly has an alpha skin engine and we have an alpha dark mode. I was programming today some percussion presets for Surge but couldn't find a way to adjust the phase of a waveform. For example to give a kick a more click-y sound. Did I oversaw something or it's simply not there? Could it implemented at some point?

It is not there. It is frequently requested. To do it requires us to make a couple of fundamental changes (basically making it so we can add parameters both in the internal data structures and the UI). The nightly has the data structure change and I am pushing towards the UI change now.Autobot wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 8:19 pm I was programming today some percussion presets for Surge but couldn't find a way to adjust the phase of a waveform. That’s the first time it was requested in github. If you subscribe to that issue you’ll see when the nightly gets it. Agree it would be a useful thing to add, at least for the wavetable and classic oscillators. (The phase control would also interact with unison phasing of course)

If you have both the VST2 and VST3 installed, maybe try with right click on VSTi insert and "Replace FX"?Dandruff wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 8:02 pm Ok, maybe some REAPER guys here? There was something added for this in one pre-release in the past. Just can't find the thread ...

As Surge is a wavetable synth, you could use a wavetable with a sine/waveform that has an offset...Autobot wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 8:19 pm I was programming today some percussion presets for Surge but couldn't find a way to adjust the phase of a waveform. Nope that would also replace the plugin chunk.evilantal wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2020 7:02 amIf you have both the VST2 and VST3 installed, maybe try with right click on VSTi insert and "Replace FX"?Dandruff wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 8:02 pm Ok, maybe some REAPER guys here? What migth work is manually renaming which plugin gets used in .rpp, this would retain the plugin chunk but try to load VST3 instead of VST2. Worth a shot.
EDIT: Nope, it doesn't work. I have saved a Reaper project with VST2 and VST3 loaded with the exact same preset, the plugin chunk is different between the two.

I'm using Surge VST3 in Bitwig (Windows 10) and finding that the GUI zoom level is not maintained when I open the plugin again. Even when I save it as default preset after changing the zoom level. Is this a know issue?

Are you using the Menu option "Set default zoom to..."? If not, try that. It seems to work where other zoom options fail.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 6:00 pm I'm using Surge VST3 in Bitwig (Windows 10) and finding that the GUI zoom level is not maintained when I open the plugin again. You won't see the zoom level change when you enter the value; you'll have to close Surge and re-open it before you see a change. But this has worked for me where the other zoom options had problems.
