because it lets me do something other daws can't do.
and that is... it lets me drag and drop 20,000 or more midi clips onto a track fast, lets me edit the clips fast, lets me export the clips fast.
this exclusive(?) capability is a huge reason for me to not leave reaper.
what other reasons do other people have for staying with reaper?

I've not left it on my SSD because I found it too complex for me an geared more towards audio than MIDI

But I did . . . REAPER sucks. I stuck with it (and SONAR/Cakewalk) from 2007 to 2015, then in 2015 went to Studio One and never looked back.
First time since 2007 I haven't owned a REAPER license . . . and it feels good
Although credit where credit is due, REAPER did resoundingly win this poll
viewtopic.php?t=522334&start=105
so it's got to be doing something right

This so much! If you spell it just right, then the bottom-end / sub of the "u" blends so well with the transient of the "b" and then there's something very satisfying how the "s" complements / contrasts it. It's a full, punchy DAW.
Reaper in comparison sounds very thin and weak. Not to mention Bitweak.

The most reasonable DAW is Logic.
