Studio One Version 5.0 Predictions and Requests

Last three big releases (3.5 + 4.0 + 4.5) were released 3rd week of May in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. They have a big sale going on til Apr 30 which leads me to believe they may drop something after. So if they keep up their pattern one could presumably think they were targeting late May 2020 for v5. However, because of COVID-19 who knows how much that affected timelines + development so it could def be pushed back significantly just because of that.trusampler wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 7:05 pm I'm assuming s1 v5 is still a good distance off, nothing jumping for Presonus @ Superbooth 2020, other then an update to Faderport 8/16.
Also at one of the Presonus meetups although they didn't give any specifics I just got the sense that something was gonna be coming this year probably first half of this year, so we'll see.
To address other comments here.. even if they don't have groundbreaking features things like updated plugins UI would be a welcome change because I use their stock stuff frequently. And sometimes little improvements across the DAW can add up so I'm cool with whatever they drop. There is nothing in S1 right now that is huge blocker me from me finishing songs and being productive so anything they do will be net positive imo. I'm looking forward to it.

As someone said , you make to to make the gate +100%chk071 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 2:49 pm Stupid question, but... is there any way to make notes glide in the S1 pattern/step sequencer?
There is an easy workaround , just make the base note (slide from ) on step longer and the slide note should be overlapping
It works pretty good with abl3
edit : Mholloway already gave the answer
I still think a small gate percentage meter ( per step ) would be great

Oh, nice!mholloway wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 7:05 pmUnless I'm confused, you're both way off here -- you can indeed create Glides in the patterns / step sequencer.
EDIT: yeah, it's new: https://blog.presonus.com/index.php/201 ... whats-new/

4.6 introduced a lot of nice features to the step sequencer , tied notes and delay per step amongst others

The step sequencer in S1 is incredibly powerful and useful but seems strangely 'hidden away' to me, you have to make a normal track first and then convert it to a pattern track- why not just have it as a track type (instrument, audio, automation, pattern?)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

hm... tbh I find that statement rather ignorant... perhaps everything that's new with an upgrade ( i.e. .0 release) ain't/won't be worth the asking price for you, but even ignoring for a moment that this is rather personal than general (i.e. highly subjetive, not objective), I think it's very short-sighted as with Studio one you always pay for several big releases and even though I just mentioned myself that this is a subjetive evaluation, I think it's bizarre to argue that e.g.:MadDogE134 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 7:53 pm REQUEST: the upgrade be worth the asking price

Plus the latest 4.6 (which the changelog linked to above oddly enough doesn't list):

Should not be worth whatever they asked for to upgrade from V3 to V4
Compare that for example to Samplitude or even just Tracktion Waveform

Huh ? Just create a track then insert pattern (under Event menu - shortcut as well).SLiC wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 9:32 am The step sequencer in S1 is incredibly powerful and useful but seems strangely 'hidden away' to me, you have to make a normal track first and then convert it to a pattern track- why not just have it as a track type (instrument, audio, automation, pattern?)
There's no such thing as a pattern track - it's an instrument track that can contain a mix of patterns and/or parts as desired.

Not forgetting they recently released VST/AU/AAX versions of their plugins, which is a free update to licencees

...Or even faster - hold Alt (Option on Mac) and then double-click on empty are in the instrument track, it will create new pattern instead of normal region.koalaboy wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 10:24 amHuh ? Now back to the topic and somewhat related to patterns.
I would like to see ability to "endless" loop normal region when dragging it, like in Logic (or Bitwig/Live).
Just pressing "L" in Logic gives you looped region all the way until the end of track.
Really convenient and fast way for "destructive" arranging when you take out regions you don't need instead of adding new ones. (I am aware of "ghost" copies, but it's not as convenient)
Currently Studio One can do this but only with Patterns when dragging them, not with normal regions (and also, there is no command for "endless" looping, yet).

Totally agree with that. It's not "in your face" like most features in S1...It didn't even know it existed until a few months ago.SLiC wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 9:32 am The step sequencer in S1 is incredibly powerful and useful but seems strangely 'hidden away' to me, you have to make a normal track first and then convert it to a pattern track- why not just have it as a track type (instrument, audio, automation, pattern?)
