Ahh yes that's it, thanks! MPC Beats does have this function as well. Looks like I can program a custom mapping.apoclypse wrote: Thu Jul 23, 2020 6:26 pm I don't know if the MPC Beats software has this but in the MPC 2.x software you go to Edit > Program > Note Mapping. You have options like Chromatic C1, Chromatic C-2, or Classic MPC (the default mapping).

Somehow managed to miss the piano roll, happy there is one, didn't get to the 9.min 50 mark of the overview video as watching someone finger drum is annoyingly tedious, and I absolutely hate the name Beats they slapped on it.. it's as bad as putting Bontempi on it, or Magix Music Maker. Something like Akai MPC Production Studio for example would have been preferable and more professional sounding for a DAW.

Thanks a lot for that!
I watched 20-something videos today and it seems like Force is much closer to what I'm looking for - basically a (simpler, but good enough for me) Ableton+Push2. And what I've seen from the upcoming arranger, drum synth and some FM stuff looks very promising indeed!

Yeah Im still waiting for my download link. Been about 2 hours now, and I am already a registered Akai customer and user. Looking forward to plugging this into cubase (assume cubase doesnt immediately crash and then the world ends) and seeing what I can get out of it!

If you can wait until the new firmware comes out. Right now Akai hasn't updated the device since last year in like September or October and have been pushing back the arranger release since the device was first introduced in NAMM2019. You can probably find a used one for a decent price though.antic604 wrote: Thu Jul 23, 2020 7:31 pmThanks a lot for that!![]()

Personally if you want less frustration and something that Akai is actually updating I would go with the MPC.

I have the impression that the hardware software is more stable than the PC edition! It's like they ported it to the PC. The reason for saying that is because of the buggy behavior of PC Beats. It didn't crash Ableton Live 10 but it seems buggy. For example, the mappings for the keys sometimes works, sometimes begin to trigger the pads randomly!
I don't know! I think I would choose the hardware if I'm not already have Push. Anyway, if I'm into any dance or hip hop music, I would definitely choose an MPC over the Live/Push. The only thing is MPC has its own culture or workflow and it takes some time for a new comer to adapt (this is what I felt from watching several videos especially about the old MPCs).

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Trying to load one of the Demo projects crashes Cakewalk by Bandlab every time here. Works fine in FL Studio.

Coming from an mpc 2kxl and mpc 1k jjos background I kinda like this, made a quick little beat yesterday after my first attempt to mess around in it...
Peace.

Not too bad. You recorded the entire Midi into one long loop, is that on purpose or because you were just starting out trying the software?SpaceTraffic wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 8:03 am Coming from an mpc 2kxl and mpc 1k jjos background I kinda like this, made a quick little beat yesterday after my first attempt to mess around in it...

The usual MPC way would be to create multiple (eg 4 bar) sequences (or "scenes" or whatever it's called in the MPC world) and then make an arrangement using the variations.
I hope I get to install MPC Beats this weekend.

Finally got the d/l link and Im installing now, but.... the installers dont let you change the install path???? WTF is this nonsense? I have strict rules for install paths, and space on my C drive is limited, but Beats... and all add-ons... defaults to C: without asking a damn thing. No good.
I actually thought I had made a mistake and clicked "ok ok ok", past a dialogue that would ask for an install path, so I removed it and put it back. Nope. Default location only.

Yeah, that's stupid. Probably their gentle way to encourage people to get the full version, that - hopefully - let's us choose the path?Milkman wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:22 pm Finally got the d/l link and Im installing now, but.... the installers dont let you change the install path???? OMG!!!! OMG OMG OMG poly aftertouch is working on my MK3, and its BEAUTIFUL, and Beats has perfect templates for it!!!! All my knobs, pads, buttons, etc etc are auto-mapped!!! This is awwwwesome forget what I said about the install path. I forgot about all that hahahahaha its time to get to work!!!! Ive got lots of my library loaded into Beats now, and as soon as I am comfy with a workflow, I am going to plug it into cubase and see if I can...... sometimes replace maschine2 with it!
I do miss my 2 screens showing my library and custom parameters, as it does when you use maschine2 and plug the MK3 in, but if I can replace maschine2 with Beats, even some of the time, and enjoy poly AT and properly mapped controls.... this may be a new workflow for me!!
