Ah, gotcha. And well, dang. Thanks for the info, and for already considering doing this. All in all, this project is a great example of how open sourcing can indeed save something from being discontinued, and then elevate it to a whole new level :)

Absolutely, but somehow I don't think that'll happen. I still use Spectral and Albino 3...

Tried out 1.7.0 briefly.

Happy to report that the 32bit seems to work fine, although im getting frequent crashes on closing with VSTHost. (Not every time, but often enough to assume that there might be some problem somewhere.)

Aside from that there is one thing ive noticed which could probably be categorized as a bug. When you rightclick the FilterSubType button, (when visible), the numbering in the dropdown goes from 0-3 whereas the button itself uses 1-4. In other words 0 in the dropdown corresponds to 1 on the button, and so forth. Also the dropdown makes it possible to select 4 for all filters, i.e. even those whose maximum state is 3. The result of selecting 4, (3 in the dropdown), with these filters is silence.

I think you get the scene, just thought id mention it.

Will let you know if i find anything else.

(I plan on doing some more in-depth testing over the weekend, time permitting.)

Nice catch, we'll take a look at it!

I didn't open a bug report because there is not enough substance and I don't even know if its a Surge problem, but yesterday with Reaper 6.12 on Linux I installed the "deb" (on top of 1.66) and started a patch from one of the templates (the one that has individual envelopes "Templates - init env per osc").

It seemed that the new features weren't available on the sine oscillator (the filters had no slider). After 20 minutes tweaking a patch I touched the aplitude envelope and reaper (and Surge) instantly dissapeared. Big crash.

On the crash if you get a stack that's always appreciated but the sliders are deactivated by default. Right mouse and choose "activate". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkZhjbN71HA&t=18s here's a little video I made showing it. We did this because by default we don't want these filters on so we made them togglable. On linux (for an annoying vstgui reason) you won't see the transparent handles just the empty tray when the slider is off.

OK, I think that this is an issue with i3 or something. In your video I see a transparent (disabled) slider, for me the slider doesn't show at all (same on FM depth and Feedback). Not a big deal.

The core dumps weren't enabled on my machine (default Ubuntu config) unfortunately. Another reason why I didn't open a bug.

EDIT: they actually were enabled, but I see no core file, so I guess it was a spectacular crash. I will update if I can reproduce.

On linux we can't draw transparent sliders with vstgui (don't ask) so we just don't show them when disabled. You should still be able to right mouse on the slider background and activate though.

Aaaaand I've just managed to fix that bug. It also says things more nicely - instead of 0-3, it will say Subtype 1-x in the menu!

I will see if I can actually make it explain the subtype based on filter type... it might be tricky.

Doublepost.

Interestingly,
I had downloaded nightly build 7-28 and for the first time also tried to install the effects.
Cubase on Mac saw it fine, but Nuendo on PC blacklisted it.
So I went back today to get the nightly build 7-30, and got this block by Microsoft Defender, which indeed I have never seen before.

which then led to me testing it on virustotal

Yeah it's a false positive, run it anyways.

Ok thanks. any idea why it only now has started to do that though, it ran 7-28 build fine.

AFAIK, SmartScreen flags any file it doesn't know as potentially harmful. If I'm not completely mistaken, it's a cloud based system, where people upload the files, and if they're flagged not harmful, then they will pass SmartScreen.
