Retro funk groove.
Feedback always welcome, especially on arrangement, mixing, etc.
I didn't overly-compress this one. I'm becoming a fan of more dynamic range.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I want to, lead you to the place you've never been before
Hold on tight, all through the night
I am longing to show you

I want to, lead you to the place, and take you through the door
Hold on tight, all through the night
I will be sure to astound you

Ohhh, O yeah
Ohhh, O yeah

[Chorus]
Heaven's a place,
and I'll take you there
Heaven's a place,
and I'll take you there
Heaven's a place,
and I'll take. you. there.

[Verse 2]
I want to, see you in the place, you were created for
Hold on tight, all through the night
I am longing to show you

I want to, lead you to the one, who'll take you through the door
Hold on tight, all through the night
They will be sure to astound you

[Chorus][Bridge][Chorus]

I played it all the way through till the end, you must be doing something right. :)
Very 80's which was no doubt your intent.

Love the infectious disco-funk groove. The arrangement is excellent. I believe the young people would call this a "banger." :)

Observations:
* The brass and bass sound a little thick and overprocessed to my ears
* The mix seems muddy with too much reverb
* chorus vox are pitchy and could use some tuning
* I know it wasn't the intention but the lyrics remind of Jim Jones or the Heaven's Gate cult. :-o

i like the funky guitar, the mix sounded ok if not a tad too hot
at times. i enjoyed the music more than the vocals on this one.
they didnt quite sit in the mix right to my ears. ymmv.

@Second Skin - Thanks for the comment and feedback...
I find myself skipping through a lot of stuff on KVR so it nice to hear that at least one person is listening all the way through. :tu:
I'm not sure I was aiming for the 80s, but it seems like I can't take the 80s out of me!

EXCELLENT!!! This track is an "ear worm" and will get many listens from me 'cause I can't get it out of my head. Loving the wall of sound horn jam...not to sound like a record company exec ...but give us more of this!! :hyper: :tu:

yes very cool retro funk, had to pull out my Nick Heyward album, you've got that groove down, great bassline

As already mentioned I think the vocals could be mixed a little better. I think they stand out to much compared to everything else.
I have hardly worked with vocals myself so I think i better stay away from giving you any mixing advice on that though :)

The rest of the song was very good and catchy!

Ahh, great to hear something funky! Nice and hot mixed, sounds good. :tu:

Has really a good funky vibe! Good guitar and Bass.
The vocals are also too prominent in the mix for my taste - especially in the refrain(?)
Reverb a tad too much also only by my taste. The brass sounds could have been snappier - but I don't know, maybe they are as you wanted them exactly...
Symphony Nr.1
Meet the Cities Repair Team Unimportant laughter
music has become meaningless...we just keep doing it

Thanks Frantz, feedback is appreciated.
I did add bx_subsynth to the brass to give it more beef, but on higher notes it may have made them more synthetic.
The second verse vocals are more reverby I think than the rest. I took the reverb down on the first verse vocals. Maybe that introduced the mud somewhere. I also have a strummed guitar and backing vox going on (maybe I should pan my backing vox more). I hit the mute button on the strummed guitar and the mix was clearer, but not as "full", if you know what I mean. I do have Neutron dynamically pushing down the strummed guitar with the vocals volume.
Its hard to balance a full and fat mix and eliminate the muddiness. Still learning.

@Ktba - I thought you might have liked this because funk was up your street. Pleased you enjoyed it. Thanks for the feedback.

Very cool funky track. The vocals on the chorus sounds a lot louder the the verses and jumped out at me. The brass would sound more punchy with less reverb. The drums are excellent. Everything else is well played and sung. Well done! :)

Thanks for the comment wavephonic. Heywood's "Wouldn't it be nice" is one of my childhood favourties. : )

Couple of people mentioned the vocals.
They sound OK on my speakers. Maybe its the room I'm in (I moved to a different house a few weeks ago). I know the room has an effect on the frequencies. Theres a program called Sonarworks where it calibrates your room and speakers. I've been looking at that. There's no sound treatment on these walls. Anyway, appreciate the feedback Layzer.
