There's a big hole that needs to be filled?

There are plenty of sequencers out there, and plenty of gates. There are even a few gate/sequencers.
It would be nice to have a creative gate/sequencer device that wasn't limited to 16/32 steps, maybe up to 64. It would also be nice to extend the features of each step, like being able to pitch/filter/formant, etc. Also including panning and maybe the ability to add FX to each step.
There seems to be a missing gate/sequencer that does a lot more then your average, maybe like a combination of A1 and Effectrix but with a different combined workflow.
Maybe there's the ultimate gate/sequencer with all these features and more and I just haven't heard of it, if not I think there's a lot of room for fun and creativity in a device like that.

Yeah, I guess the hole was left by the demise of Camelspace

I've never even seen that before, I'm not very familiar with Logic. But, that's pretty much what I was talking about. Too bad I can't use it outside of Logic though. But, thanks for the info.

Full Bucket SequencAir can have up to 256 steps. Great oldskool sequencer with a built in synth.

Tantra is what you're looking for. I use Tantra and Step FX depending on my mood. Tantra V2 is coming out later this year too.Cancel Culture Club wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 11:49 pm

Yeah, very nice.
Any chance they're adding pitch/tuning/formant type of adjustments to V2? Elements of an ARP, etc.

All of those things you mentioned can be automated easily in your daw. If you have Ableton you can use a sequencer to modulate anything and I'm sure you can in many other daws like bitwig. So it's not really much of a hole. Sure there's a convenience factor with things like Tantra but those who have it would probably use it once in a blue moon like Stutter edit, put it in their 'seemed like a good idea at the time' box.

Seems to me that the more features you add to these things, the more unwieldy they get and the more likely that you'll dislike the implementation of one of the effects. At some complexity level it's always going to be better to go back to DAW automation.
Tantra is pretty great, though! And shaperbox has most of the effects you mentioned.
The BYOME/TRIAD sequencer only goes up to 16, but you can combine modulators for more complex patterns. (You could even rig up a slow LFO to "switch" between two sequencers.)
And then there's Reaktor...

The market's full of sequenced multi-FX:
- StutterEdit 1 & 2
- Glitch 1 & 2
- Tantra
- Effectrix, Turnado, Looperator
- Byome, Triad
- chrisGlitch
- Loomer Sequent
...and probably many, many more

The partnership of NI and iZotope may bring interesting things to this desire for a super-sequencer. iZotope's expertise in machine learning, audio analysis, interactive "conditional" processing.... all the foundational technologies to yield something far beyond what we now have.
Here's a hint at what I'm saying:
