all a snapshot in time from the golden era...when there was actually a culture...organic and real...look how many artists are in that video i posted...back when creativity and authenticity mattered...back to that video...when is the last time you heard a piano solo in a hip hop record?...back when hip hop represented all walks of life, and records addressed all facets of life...just look at that one scene in oakland as a microcosm...you had digital underground, too short, ant banks, hammer, tony tone toni, richie rich, dru down, the coup, saafir, E-40...couldn't have been more different from each other, but were all respected and supported.

You couldn't go to a cookout or roller rink without hearing this

Shit this is crazy sad!

I still remember first time I heard the bass line to Humpty Dance... I was in school when the older kids pulled up, the windows came down and released clouds of smoke. All I heard was was dooweeer, dooweerh. I was hooked!

Then there was the time I had just bought the Sex Packets tape. My family had just move and we were unpacking. I had the tape playing Side A when I ran out with my pops to get food, leaving my mom to hear Side B as it flipped.

I hadn’t gotten to side B yet, but she’s a cool mom who gave me a pass.

And I get around... I played that to death.
