A quote from Urban Dictionary
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define. ... m=supersaw

Before the supersaw came along Trance used to be good; repetitive, slowly building, melodic, psychedelic, mystic, euphoric, and best of all: CREATIVE. Unlike today...

*sigh* I guess it was fun as long as it lasted. I miss the good ol' Trance.
I totally agree. If I was in a trance, this grating out of tune fuzz would rudely awaken me!

If supersaw didn't exist it should have been invented. There's no better way to show everyone your exquisite and refined taste than saying how much you hate supersaw.

Seriously, guys, it's just a sound

Yeah, right.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

KVR Audio has a weird relationship to supersaws. :P Either people who don't have any interest in the sound, or musical genres which feature it, enter threads, and voice their revulsion at the sound or the music, or they enter threads, and tell you that it doesn't matter which sound you use for it, because they all sound the same for such sounds anyway.

Maybe I should do the same, and start participating in threads about guitars, and guitar music. I'm sure people would appreciate my lack of knowledge and interest. :hihi:

Anyway, that kind of ignorance is always good for a laugh, so, carry on. :P

Anyone who says "they all sound the same" or "nobody needs non-stock plugins" are correct if you don't want a particular sound nor a particular mix. But anyone who is serious about making music will desire something specific, because it makes things more interesting and may be necessary for production/engineering. You could download REAPER and Surge and some free drum/sample packs and make many types of genres' beats for free; and pair that with a mic and you can make an entire album.

It's not cool to like supersaws here.

Anyway, i love 'm.

My fav synth for supersaws is Spire btw. Layered with other synths ofcourse, to make 'm even bigger.

I am floored. A person actually mentioned GFP(beta). I have a fondness for that one. I've not looked at it in a long time. I'll have to see if I can get a supersaw out of it.

Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

So whats your favorite VST for supersaws nowadays :hihi:?

Post

I think I don't like supersaw sounds mostly because most of them are rather bright and I am allergic to bright sounds and high frequencies.
I do have a kind of supersaw (hard to tell where the line between unison and supersaw is) pad that I like, but the LP filter is pretty much closed except for the short attack.

Post

A better question might be "which synths can't do decent supersaw?" Seriously, pretty much anything will do a decent unison or supersaw sound. If I was forced to pick a favourite, it would probably be Union but it's something pretty much anything I reach for can do well enough.
