Info from the bx_crispytuner pdf manual:
The bx_crispytuner only processes monophonic input, therefore stereo
tracks are tuned by taking the average of the two channels as the input
signal.
does this mean it outputs mono or it still outputs stereo just the pitch info is derived from the stereo>mono information? In other words - will a processed stereo track have the same stereo field as if it were unprocessed?Warped Effect wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:41 pm It's unfortunate that Plugin Alliances version of CrispyTuner still only has mono support lol, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, because CrushedPixel was always against the idea of adding stereo support to CrispyTuner for some strange reason.

He PM'd me [for completely unknown reasons - I don't even own the plug nor was I actively participating in this latest discussion] to say he needs stereo pitch correction because he uses voice manipulation with his stereo Rode microphone to troll people on video games with pitch shifted and harmonized voices.jens wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:45 pm Of course he was - because what you are asking for doesn't really make sense.![]()

I don't know why both of you are pretending that hardly anyone uses Monophonic AutoTune plugins with stereo support for music production.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Jul 12, 2021 3:45 pm So his use case for stereo tuning is one that has nothing to do with music production. Which is why it wasn't making sense to us.

Thanks a lot for the heads up. Good to know, I'll pay attention to this mono stereo issue. Hopefully Developers will get that sort out or have a Mono & stereo version.

oatmeel wrote:Yeah it is weird with the stereo thing. I put it onto a stereo BGV stem and it monoized the stereo source. I didn't export a mix yet with this plugin.
Waves Tune Real time produces a different result on stereo files BTW. I checked. Something in the Waves one felt more coherent.
screentan wrote:Thanks for letting me know. I would have just taken it for granted it was stereo. Good to find out now and not the hard way later on
Perhaps they're clueless?Warped Effect wrote: Mon Jul 12, 2021 11:14 pm If hardly anyone uses Monophonic AutoTune plugins with stereo support for music production, then can you explain why all of these other people from audio plugin forums immediately lost interest in CrispyTuner when they discovered that it only has mono support ?![]()

What if someones song/mix is in stereo and they want to keep it in stereo ?, or what if someone uses CrispyTuner on their song/mix and they are unaware of mono only support ?, and their song/mix is ruined because CrispyTuner forced it into mono, oh well no big deal.jens wrote: Mon Jul 12, 2021 11:49 pmPerhaps they're clueless?
One of them even wants to put it after a Vocoder...
(and one of the others wanted to use it on a stereo background-vocals stem- you coudln't possibly make this shit up... )
Clearly there are uses for using something like this on a stereo track, just you are too conventional and / or rigid in your thinking to think of them. I leave you to ponder this for your homeworkjens wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 12:21 am We are musicians here. We create the music. We don't put effects like this on the master, but on our individual tracks instead. We made them, so we have access to them.
Putting an effect like this on a whole song makes absolutely ZERO sense - regardless of whether that song is mono or stereo, it CAN NOT work. It simply isn't made for this.
I think you simply stumbled into the wrong place of the internet, buddy. This isn't the kid's corner.
So please go and play somewhere else lad.
Do you also use a single Mono Speaker & Mono Microphones ? lol, and mono only support would be fine, if CrispyTuner was a radio voice emulation plugin or an old telephone voice emulation plugin.jens wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 1:11 am So what? - if you really have such esoteric requirements (for whatever reason, like I should give a rat's arse - chances are it's just a heap of bollocks anyway) you can certainly go to the length of putting one instance on each of both channels. Then you can independently tune to channels to your heart's desire. But no, let's pester the developer and everybody else with inane ramblings instead.
Crispy Tuner either way does the sane thing to do on a stereo channel - assuming the average pitch of both channels as the base pitch.
This thread has been derailed over absolutely nothing. I leave you to ponder this for your homework.
