Leads me to believe that there's real-time asset swapping. Maybe some calculation involving interface zoom? Even though the assets are downloaded, it seems like it's updating assets for a given RE in real time. I noticed on one synth that my system CPU load for Reason was ~20%, with 1 RE loaded. Not playing the RE or running the sequencer -- 20% just sitting there waiting for the asset to load.

Fine for you. I don't want to see a virtual ass crack on a knob either. A round knob instead of a pixelated round knob. Fonts that aren't pixelated. Control labels that aren't pixelated. The title of the synth not pixelated. You know, the high res stuff on a 1440p monitor that I've waited for years to see.MuzikFreq wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:05 am The fastest ones I have seen are synapse audio racks which are even faster than reasons built in stuff....
I mean, cool there tiny bits of detail but I don't need so much that I can see my virtual ass crack on a scratch on a knob

It's a pooled resource. I have noticed that it takes forever to load certain assets but will stay loaded once it is loaded like a knob texture.solar28 wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:06 am Leads me to believe that there's real-time asset swapping. Though probably made worse with 3rd parties as they have their own textures.
They need to really hit a home run with this otherwise it might hurt them in the long run. I have seen crazier UIs and such load million times quicker.
I can load up WoW with a bazillion add-ons and interface adjustments in a fraction of a second but have to wait forever for reason to load high-res assets. This is some seriously broken code

Yeah, for me I can't complain for $3 for 3 months. But unless I see some improvement, it will at least save me the $$ and the troubleshooting time. No subscription, no upgrade to reason 12, and lamenting the REs I purchased. I've been a paying customer since reason 3. As brilliant as the RE/rack has been, I don't have the young eyeballs to squint at it. I can't sit there and load every RE 1 at a time waiting to see the assets load in. Hope: that future beta's have this figured out.

it was stated elsewhere that you only have to do this once. are you saying that you have to wait again each time you load the same RE?solar28 wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:32 am Yeah, for me I can't complain for $3 for 3 months. Is there any difference between $3 / 3 months Reason+ and the current v12 beta? I get it that eventually R+ will - or might? - get Mimic and/or new Combi sooner, but that's not the case yet so I think they're on par now, no?EnochLight wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 6:18 pmThe users that invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the years in the Reason ecosystem and still prefer the perpetual license model will get a fully featured "12" via the traditional upgrade route in September, and come away with a much better bang for buck. Reason+ subscribers are only getting an advance preview of just 2 of the Reason 12 features (improved search and high res graphics), not the whole thing. In September, you'll get a new Combinator as well as a new sampler, and probably some other (small) improvements, including better high-res support from point updates that will likely be rolled out to 12+ subscribers over the next 2-3 months.Benutzername wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 5:02 pm So, people who spent 3 bucks to enter the subscription are getting the next version much earlier than all the users that invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the years in the Reason ecosystem.
At least RS clearly now shows where the priorities are.
Regardless, you can sub for $3 and get access as well for 3 months, and cancel before it goes full price anyway and go right back to the perpetual license, so... not a big deal.
EDIT: oh, the + has 3rd party REs in HD, right? so that's certainly a benefit

Right, R+ subscribers get all RE’s in hi-res now (though there seems to be a random RE or two that haven’t been “built” yet). As for any difference between the last beta and the stable release, obviously there’s no logging code and it runs much faster. Not sure if any bug fixes were squeezed in to the stable channel or not.antic604 wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 6:04 am Is there any difference between $3 / 3 months Reason+ and the current v12 beta? Nice try, Props, but no, thanks - I'll demo V12 once its out, have a good look at the upgrade price and then I will decide whether to go for it or not. But your sad attempt at trying to lure me in made it just a tiny bit more unlikely...

Meanwhile I am having a fabulous time right now and for the next 12 weeks with lovely Hi Res Reason and all of the amazing instruments like Algortym and Friktion for the price of a coffee!

Current 12 beta hasn't been a "logging" one for a week or so.EnochLight wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 1:48 pmAs for any difference between the last beta and the stable release, obviously there’s no logging code and it runs much faster.
Please don't tell me you caught the bait and are paying $3 for the next 3 months?!

The RC has been out for about a week, but it's the exact same "version" as the logging code channel. Anyway, no clue if they slipped in more fixes to the stable release channel.antic604 wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:11 pm Current 12 beta hasn't been a "logging" one for a week or so.
Didn't need to - I was already an R+ subscriber.antic604 wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:11 pm Please don't tell me you caught the bait and are paying $3 for the next 3 months?!![]()

Either buy the regular upgrade as always (and hope that any RS-branded RE's used, I already own, or buy the ones I used separate), or continue to subscribe!D-Fusion wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 3:13 pm And after 12 weeks you discover that you made some songs and put down some ideas and want more

I don't either, at least in principle and especially if it was for my only DAW / main DAW. But RS's way of shoving it up our throats is so off putting, that I refuse to participate in this.EnochLight wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:28 pmDidn't need to - I was already an R+ subscriber.antic604 wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:11 pm Please don't tell me you caught the bait and are paying $3 for the next 3 months?!![]()
I don't have issues with subscriptions. Works for my lifestyle.
I will upgrade to v12, but from then on everything depends on what happens to the Reason DAW.
BTW, does Reason+ already properly scale the transport bar and tool icons? Because the beta does not (they've unsightly scaling artefacts).
