after demoing it for a bit I quite like, different options to replika xt, more experimental for sure.

It's definitely different than Replika XT. After spending most of my evening with this plugin, I can see myself reaching for it when I want quick results with stellar sound quality. I understand some of the views expressed and how it might not be as deep to program as others such as Portal. I also think less fiddling around with multiple tabs while you're "in the zone" could be a good thing.
Some limitations with our technology can help us to focus more on the music itself. The silky-sounding reverb and delay algorithms make this wonderful for massive ambient soundscapes. It also works beautifully on cinematic pianos and guitars. It's also just as at home with driving dance music. In fact, it works really well for long builds and drops or for some special processing on your vocals.
It's been years since my last Audio Damage plugin. So I don't know how often they release updates nowadays or anything about their customer support recently. But they were always cool with me anytime I had a question in the past and you don't have to worry about invasive authorization methods or a dongle. I think the sale price is very fair for the massive bang for your buck you get with Other Desert Cities!!

This has some interesting effects when used on pads/sustained sounds. It's crashing for me in Reaper. Same process both times:
Click the "blank box" in the presets browser. Reaper closes. Also happens if I click on any saved preset, although the names are not saved properly.
VST3 version on WIN10 Reaper x64 (latest)

OK, it is crashing a bit when changing presets. But bloody hell this is good! I don't have a delay like this. Cactus is amazing lol

This audio demo will sell it to you!
I've now tested this delay alongside:
Vallhalla delay
Izotope delay (uninstalled that)
FF Timeless 3
Echobode
Melda Spectral delay
Artutira Memory brigade
Artutira Eternity
U-he Colourcopy
I didn't bother with Tekturon or permut8 as they are very different.
I can say that this ODC offers sounds and effects I am not getting in any of these. I will probably be getting it now. I would look forward to more modulation settings too.
You know what would make this plugin explode? 2 engines (algorithms) side by side. That would be amazing!

Hmmmm that demo video was good. Initially I assumed this was just a granular delay, but now knowing it does the whole gamut of delays very much interests me. Reverse delay especially, and it looks like it can do the diffuse delay/reverb thing too. Interesting. Some of the algos are probably not much use to me but there's at least 4 in there that are, and it looks very capable - I like that the LFOs are applicable to anything. Must admit that much of what granular does doesn't flop my mop, but I watched a demo of some synth or other that did granular delay, and it could do some nice lush fluid delay - it's the grainy bitty crap that I don't like.
I'm not overly enamoured of the GUI but I could live with it...

Same for me. Their support is very, very strange and uneven. Some get responses within hours, other never get any. I don't understand how their support works. On Chris Randall's mood?

really nice sounding. great modes for weird experiments and rhythmic fun. even with so many delay effects available this brings something new and useful. great UI

They stopped license transfers didn't they? I'm just fickle and wary of buying stuff I can't trade later on down the line (blame a history of buying guitar pedals...
)
