Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a pair of cans for my oldest kid (3 yrs). Here's my checklist:
- built for young kids (size, weight)
- acceptable sound quality
- affordable (< 25€)
- available in Germany
Feel free to share your experience. I've picked up the most rated product from Amazon Germany (iClever HS14) and they are too large for 3 yrs old kids and they sound *horrible*. So maybe there's something affordable from a more renowned brand.
Regards,
Andre

I have several Superluxes (668b, 662f) at home which I love - they are insanely good for the money. They are rather "full size", though. But I'll check if Superlux has something lighter and smaller.

My personal opinion is that you need to get headphones with a built-in volume limiter to minimise risk of hearing damage. Particularly in her early years, my daughter would always crank the volume up as much as possible when listening to music. I also think wireless headphones are well worth investing in for children to avoid frustration, damage to devices and risk of strangling when they inevitably get tangled up in the cable.
Not exactly budget, but we've used a pair of Puro BT2200 for several years, and they have been excellent. It looks like they now have slightly cheaper (plastic instead of all-metal construction) and more expensive (noise cancelling) options too:

Not sure I would put headphones on a three year old due to potential for hearing damage.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I'm not planning to have him using the headphones for long. We're going on a vacation soon and we'll drive for quite some time. We'd give him the phones for the ride so he can listen to his stuff.
Of course I care about his hearing. So I'll pick up volume limited cans. I'll probably go with Tonies Lauscher, they're not too bad, designed for kids, volume limited and affordable. The other ones I would have liked (JBL jr310) are hard to get atm.
Those are more likely for me, not for my son.

Oh, forget that, those are available from JBL directly. I'll try those first.paterpeter wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 4:07 pm The other ones I would have liked (JBL jr310) are hard to get atm.

TheJBL headphones came a couple of days ago. They're actually pretty nice for the money. Not much low end, but the high end is ok, they are light, can be folded and have a sheet of child-friendly stickers included to label the headphones.

Agreed, though just for a trip is probably OK.Unaspected wrote: Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:47 pm Not sure I would put headphones on a three year old due to potential for hearing damage.
Buy the cheapest ear buds you can find. He's 3. He won't notice a diff.

Don't allow three year old kids to use headphones of any kind.
Kids ears are still developing at that age, and they simply don't need them. It's pretty irresponsible to allow kids of that age to access to headphones period, you risk damaging their ears permanently.
Don't buy into any advertising stuff about kids headphones..., they are not suitable for kids that young.

Ideally no headphones.
Life isn’t always ideal. Rare use would be ok most likely if they were very much volume limited (I’m not a doctor). Be aware that some volume limited only work that way I’d you use their special cable, etc.

ummm...no...I am not a dr, this is not a medical site but common sense sure suggests that it is far better to err on the side of caution. Kids are growing, common sense...if a lot of stuff is growing on the outside (and it's slightly obviousmixyguy2 wrote: Wed Sep 01, 2021 2:13 amAgreed, though just for a trip is probably OK.Unaspected wrote: Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:47 pm Not sure I would put headphones on a three year old due to potential for hearing damage.

But now you want to put ear buds in their ears...you do know they'll try to push them out the tother side right? They're toddlers. You dont let toddlers put things in their bodies, this is parenting 101, not up their nose, not in their ears, we always keep and an eye on what they put in their mouth, we even baby proof house to keep them from finding tempting items to put in holes and crevices on the body. You want to put earbuds in their ears?
Just a guess, you dont have kids huh?

Headphones on a toddler. Have you tried to Google it?
...and the electron responded, "what wall?"
