I wanted to tell you, this is a consequence of having two different phrase lengths.
Please do a "Render phrase with variations" on the resized phrase and it will work as you rightfully expect.

Thanks,
Attila

I realized this would not make much sense.
You can use Melody Generator or Random Melody Generator with the new Modern Irregular Rhythm.

The Motive Generator uses small melody sections, copied one after the other, with each section having its own rhythm, so it cannot use a global rhythm pattern.

Hi lovemusic15,
I have already attempted to add this rhythm generator to the Melody Editor. I found it was not that easy but I'll return to it soon.

Hi,

It seems the MIDI Import settings (in particular, 'Import MIDI markers as chords' and 'Prefer 7th ...' ) only take effect when we use the MIDI Import tab, and not when we drag MIDI directly into the Composition.

RC - MIDI Import Settings.jpg

If this is a correct observation, is that intentional? Would using the settings in all cases perhaps be most consistent and desirable?

Hi HPN,

thanks for your feedback.
I fixed most of these mac retina issues in v4.3.1, please download the update.

Thanks!

The Chord Selector and its icons are too small, and the drag button is not working at all. Some columns of chord selector is minimised by default. Would be nice if it's already expanded to a certain size.

Hello Attila! Happy New Year ! Thanks for the new update. Everything started working very nicely, that is, the scrolls and all movements became soft, etc. Unfortunately, the picture still turns black when the size is changed by dragging the corner. I remember that this seems to be a mismatch with Mac Os .. Happy New Year to all users !!!

Hi Steve,

I checked, and this setting is used universally when a chord name is looked up in the chords library (and when locating inversions is allowed). I would gladly check a MIDI file that behaves differently, but I suspect there is a reason for that.

Thanks,
Attila

Hello lulukom!

Happy New Year!
Yes, I try to do something about resizing windows on macOS. If you use the small handles (when you click on the RC UI instead of using the macOS resizing), it works much better, the window is redrawn during resizing, although not perfect.
I suspect resizing works differently on different hardware, e.g. on my mac mini the UI image is stretched during resizing, there are no black areas, and when you release the mouse button, it is redrawn properly.

Thanks!

RapidComposer v4.4b3 is available!

So that we are all on the same page, this is the last beta version in this year. It includes the UI improvements made in the last few days, primarily on macOS/retina screens, but some changes affect Windows too.
  • [macOS] UI fixes and improvements on retina resolutions
  • Redesigned scrollbars, scrollbar width setting is reset to 'Auto'
  • [macOS] Fixed redraw and window size issues in Chord Selector
  • [macOS] Fixed dragging from the Chord Selector
  • [macOS] Fixed mouse cursor (it was always an arrow)
  • [macOS] Fixed occasional crash when opening menus
  • Other small fixes for issues appeared in v4.3

I am personally very grateful for the amazing community here on KVRAudio! Thank you for supporting me, for your suggestions, bug reports and tremendous help you have given to me. Thanks, and see you next year!

Hi,

Attached is the MIDI file, and pics.

This pic shows the results after dragging the MIDI file into the Composition and converting to MT chords from the phrase instpector, notice the Gb6 chord in m8:

RC - Scaler Input pref7 noLabels Restart DragIn.jpg

This pic shows the result of dragging the MIDI file into the Import pane and doing the conversion there, notice the Ebm7 chord in m8:

RC - Scaler Input pref7 noLabels Restart Import.jpg

In both cases, the MIDI Import settings were as follows:

RC - MIDI Import Settings Prefer 7th 01.jpg

Hence my original inquiry, as the chord result in m8 is not the same.

Just for interest, the original chords in from Scaler did end in Ebm7:

Further, if I turn On 'Import MIDI markers as chords', I see that it does happen when I go thru the MIDI Import page (e.g. the /Gb and /Db show up), but not when I drag in to the Composition and convert to MT chords via the phase inspector. (I'd be very surprised if you don't see the same behavior here ...)

It seems that the drag-in to the Composition pane is unaware of chord marker labels in all cases.

Cheers!

Hey Attila,

Happy New Year! Hope you had a good time. Thanks for addressing those issues. It's almost there now. I found a few more.

- The welcome blue pop-up (loading) is still not as large as the phrase-loaded pop-up.
- The multi-chord selected icon pop-up size is still small
- The chord selector play button doesn't really play. Maybe it doesn't behave in a 'preview using selected track'
- The redo shortcut is still command + y instead of command + shift + z
- The track scroll is still oddly the opposite direction of phrases panel scroll (y-direction)
- The x-direction scroll behavior is bugged when using the trackpad to scroll left and right while the cursor is on the x-direction scroll area.
- Spacebar play shortcut is still malfunctioning. I've ticked all at the MIDI setting and hooked it to REAPER DAW

Maybe I might need to reset the RC? cause I am still loading the old project files and settings. But I forgot how to reset.. :o

Best,
HPN

Hi HPN,

thanks for your post!

Right. RC will receive a nice splash screen soon.
nexeu wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:53 pm - The multi-chord selected icon pop-up size is still small
:tu: Fixed now. I'll upload v4.4b4 either today or tomorrow with LOTS of small fixes on macOS retina screens.
nexeu wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:53 pm - The chord selector play button doesn't really play. Maybe it doesn't behave in a 'preview using selected track'
It works here :( With both the chord preview or the selected track instrument.
nexeu wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:53 pm - The redo shortcut is still command + y instead of command + shift + z
You are right. From now it will be command+shift+Z for new installations but I do not want to change the shortcuts for existing ones. So please go to Settings / Keyboard Shortcuts, and reassign the shortcut for Redo.
nexeu wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:53 pm - The track scroll is still oddly the opposite direction of phrases panel scroll (y-direction)
I don't really understand this. It works the same direction as scrollbars in RC and scrollbars in other macOS applications. That is if you drag down the whole view is scrolling up. I have checked other applications, they work the same way.
nexeu wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:53 pm - The x-direction scroll behavior is bugged when using the trackpad to scroll left and right while the cursor is on the x-direction scroll area.
User error ;) Don't drag horizontally. All scrollbars are driven by the mouse wheel (or vertical drag on a track pad)
nexeu wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:53 pm - Spacebar play shortcut is still malfunctioning. I've ticked all at the MIDI setting and hooked it to REAPER DAW
I tried this on a macbook (Intel) and Mac Mini (M1) with REAPER and multiple RC plug-ins. The space bar worked. Please try to enable "Send all keyboard input to plug-in" in the REAPER plug-in menu.

You don't have to reset anything. If you still want to, remove the ~/Documents/RapidComposerV4/Settings/settings file.

Thanks!
Attila
