But when I open Vital there's only a black screen. Both VST2 and VST3.

Is this a known issue?
Have you tried the AU version? Works fine on my M1 running Monterey.
:dog: yea AU duh! Thanks I'll try this when I'm back from work :tu:
Nope :(

Well, it was just a tip based on my personal experience. No meta discussion here....

Post

This is probably a 'OpenGL support has been deprecated in MacOS' issue, at a guess.

:( Sounds like something to raise with Matt Tytel. Also I think you can download different versions from the Vital website so perhaps a different build might work.

This whole issue somehow disappeared today, so plugins are working totally fine now (Vital + FKFX).

I think because I moved to a smaller desk I had to detach my second screen..now I have just 1 external monitor hooked up to the macbook. I know sounds completely voodoo but could be the gfx card driver got confused because of the 2nd screen, I'm too lazy to hook up the second screen back just to cross check. Let's see how it goes...

Still some minor glitches here and there

I cannot believe I have missed this synth.
I had read about it, but because it is free, I was not interested... What a stupid mistake.

The envelopes and filters sound great, the attack can sound as good as a Virus.

The layout and the ergonomics for sound tweaking feels from another age. Going back now even to Serum or any other synth feels awkward, restrictive and complicated.

Post

the only thing missing is native M1 support :hihi:

oh and maybe global transpose on the main page :clown:

Yeah... was waiting for this so I can install it on my M1 mac. Been long enough now that I have kinda moved on. So fine to just drop it altogether.

I would have to say that Vital, and a couple of other very ergonomic synths like Phase Plant and Pigments, will push the rest of my synth collection into ROMpler status.

With the exception of my analogue-ish VA synths such as Repro and Saurus with all of the important controls on the main screen, of course!

I was so impressed with Vital, that I quickly purchased the Pro upgrade!
Windows 10 and too many plugins

just a heads up that according to new posts on the Vital Forum, Matt seemingly has put Vital on GitHub and someone made an (unofficial) native port to Apple Silicon which is supposed to work fine.

The next official version (with new features) will also be ARM-native. It's currently in prerelease testing.
I hate signatures too.

I only knew that this has been in the works for a long time, but not that it's actually close to a release now :tu:

Some notes about the “unofficial” Silicon build by buchenburger and NVIDIASC: It is seen separately from the official 1.0.7 VST3 build as: VitalM1.vst3.

It appears to have been built using the official 1.0.6 build.

It is 8,185,615 MB larger in size than 1.0.7.

It will not see presets from an original Vital installation because it creates its own new preset folder in the HD/User/YourName/Music/ pathway under the name “Vial”. It can read any preset created with an official version however. It is only matter of copying everything from the HD/User/YourName/Music/Vital pathway to the HD/User/YourName/Music/Vial pathway in order to read presets, wavetables, etc., like an official build.

It runs totally indistinguishable on Cubase 12 from the official 1.0.7 build on a M1 under Rosetta. If Cubase 12 is launched natively, it runs just fine as a native vst3 plug-in and appears indistinguishable from the 1.0.7 build under Rosetta.
On a number of Macs

Sorry for the dumb question. It's the first time I booted up Vital today: Where can I set the wavetable interpolation? I just loaded the Virus TI wavetables into Vital, and it steps through the different frames of the wavetable, and doesn't interpolate smoothly.
