Thanks a lot for your answers.

The perfect does not very clearly exist.

On the other hand, when you want to play in the top range, play in the big leagues, you have to build quality machines and everything must be functional and not wait for updates to fix bugs and often add others.

Indeed only 10 fingers ๐Ÿ˜Š

I really like the Summit as well as the Polybrute, but the Matrixbrute could indeed do the job.

If possible the Summit and Matrixbrute most certainly.

The concern I only have one place for a keyboard and three slots for modules.

I must not be mistaken about the choice of the keyboard.

I am not Jean Michel Jarre ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am totally happy with the Virus Ti2 pure excellence.

Arturia and quite a few other drivers should really draw inspiration from the Virus ti2, a machine that dates back many years, but of perfect quality, built like a tank, a top-of-the-range keyboard, an excellent synthesizer.

It's true having only 10 fingers ๐Ÿ˜Š I understand your words,

A Peak instead of the Summit and possible to take another machine to complete for the price of the Summit.

Really too bad that I don't like the sound of the Rev 2, I find it silly, unless I'm mistaken, the Summit is better equippe

The advantage of large voice counts is not that you can play 8-note or 16-note chords, it's about playing large lush chords without voice stealing. This is particularly important for lush sustaining and evolving pads, where you might have five-note chords going and voice stealing cuts off the sustain of some notes during your progression, which can be very audible and annoying in some circumstances. For a synth like the Rev2, you can layer the A & B parts, but that also reallocates the voices and halves the number of voices that can sound simultaneously on each part. I have the 8-voice Rev2, but I've been tempted to purchase the expansion for this very reason. That may or may not be important to you, but that is (arguably) the main reason to have a poly synth with a high voice count.

Indeed, I understand the advantage of the number of notes.

On the other hand, I really don't like the sound of the Rev 2, I don't know why, but I'm not a fan.

Without taking into account the Polyphony, number of notes, manufacturing quality of the synthesizer.

On a sound point of view, very sincerely it is the Polybrute, the Summit / Peak in monophonic Matrixbrute and Subsequent 37.

I have read your opinions several times, thank you again, here I need the sound of the machine to transport me, emotion, for the hairs to stand up as they say.

This is the case with these four machines.

Concerning the Subsequent 37, even if a quality as well material as sound, it would not be my first purchase.

So two Arturia anyway ๐Ÿ˜Š

I always come back to the same concern, the keyboard.

Actually, asking for experiences is much worse, as you won't even hear the synth, nor know what the person stating his experiences likes or likes not, or how much experience or skills he has in general.
Playing you get to work your way through the features and sweet spots. Usually a synth can have quite a wide range of sounds.

Some Youtube demos can be quite limited in scope, or the players personal taste can shine through more than the synth.

e.g. starsky carr, ok, so it's a comparison, but usually not a wide range of capabilities
Jexus - great videos, but his style of sound still comes through, no matter what the synth

I like 'preset' youtube videos to maybe get a flavour, but I may see several and not click, then one person may make it sound just to my taste.

With limited viewing time, can't always get the full picture.

That said - an hour with a complex synth, random e.g. pro 3, and you also wouldn't really get the full picture - though you might get a better feel for the filter/rez etc. Sometimes you need many hours/days to get to grips with a synth. I'm sure very few people would ever fully exhaust something like a Pro 3...

I personally would take Summit (great supersaws), and Subseq 37 of these. Esp, for the type of music you said.

Here, I weighed the pros and cons and even if apprehensive compared to Arturia, 95% for the Matrixbrute, it is the one that impressed me the most and the grandiose matrix.

Even if not at all reassured with the low-end keyboard.

Beyond that the Matrixbrute is really an excellent machine.

More possibilities more creative than the Subsequent 37.

The Polybrute 6 way, it could do mono and poly, but I prefer to have mono and poly.

The Subsequent 37 I like a lot, but the Matrixbrute will certainly bring me much more.

To have a different sound, the Prophet 6 also subsequently modulates 6 channels, but another sound imprint.

Look at the OB-6 over the Prophet-6. That will be a better contrast to the Virus. OB-6 is fatter, Prophet-6 is more aggressive.

Little Phatty sounds better than Subsequent. The keys and knobs feel great (actually everything about it feels great, it's a very well designed board), and it's easier to program than you might imagine. Minitaur is also great, it's a different character and less versatile but has the advantage of more knobs. I personally would choose either of these over the Subsequent.

Oddball recommendation: the Bass Station. While not such an amazing sound on its own, it mixes really well with the Virus, sometimes better than fatter synths, plus you can use the Aphex Twin mode for strangeness.

Korg SQ-64 for step sequencing.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I had looked at the OB 6, but I find it a bit nasty, I just like the more incisive, aggressive sound of the Prophet 6.

But it's true the Virus Ti2 already does it so well.

You are not for the Matrixbrute, linked to the price?

The little phatty indeed, unfortunately more than second-hand and I never buy second-hand.

If it still existed new, my choice would be quickly made ๐Ÿ˜Š

Most certainly an error on my part, but the Bass station 2 is a great machine, but afraid of finding myself a little limited in its operation just like with the Subsequent 37.

Here, I have a limited place and I don't have to show myself on the purchase of the keyboard.

I will still, by acquired knowledge, still listen to OB6.

The MatrixBrute is great but there are synths that complement the Virus better for trance. The main thing the Virus is lacking is that larger-than-life Moog sound. Also, there were many years where Virus + Little Phatty was requisite gear for big name trance producers and it's likely that many songs you're a fan of were done with that exact combination.

I'm under the impression that you want a keyboard with patch memory, no modules or synths that you have to program real-time. Am I correct?

Post

Thanks for your response.

The little phatty would absolutely be my choice, if it were possible to have it still new.

The Moog sound is and remains a safe bet and a sumptuous machine.

What I really like about the Matrixbrute is the modulation matrix, a tool for unlimited creation and inspiration.

Indeed I research with patches, but I also plan to start programming and having memories is really a plus very clearly.

Need a scalable machine offering me possibilities to bring sound to life, inspire me and develop my creative potential.

Post

It sounds like MatrixBrute, Subsequent, or OB-6 would be the way to go. Or a Moog One if you can afford it.

Post

All of your narrowed-down selection of synths are excellent.

My hint:
Pick one (or two!) - probably the Matrixbrute;

Go for a reliable-working synth (which they all should be from that selection);

Go for the hardware synth that you can sell at most profit in 7 years time.

Post

Thanks for your feedback.

Even if not too much confidence in the keyboard and long-term reliability of the Arturia, it is the one that suits me best.

For reliability and to have a guaranteed selling price, it is most certainly the Sequential, a safe bet for sure, much more than the Arturia.

The One out of my financial reach.

The OB 6, I really don't like the sound, even if the sound is more varied with the Virus Ti2, I prefer the Prophet 6.

Whenever I looked into it, it seems like a nice little synth. I also like the sound.

The Bass Station 2 is a nifty little synth.

On the other hand, I will most certainly be even more limited compared to the Subsequent 37.

So the Matrixbrute really seems to be the alternative to my choice.

Instruments / features / possibilities / evolution of sound.
