saturday an event happened, a great event. On Saturday, December 4th, the world was blessed with a brand new baby! Who's a little one? Yes, who is a little one? Ohhhh, isn't he just the cutest? Wha... OH MY GOD WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS CHILD!??!?!

Yes, in an unholy marriage between I, Parasite and The Wretch (which is not legal in most American States), Granular Inverse was born. We setup. We jammed. We recorded.

Jam details:

Endmusik's setup:
Elektron Monomachine > Mooger Fooger Filter pedal > mixer
Elektron Machinedrum > Metasonix TM-1 > mixer

Parasitk's setup:
Roland Juno-6 > Troubled Variance Noiseswash > mixer
DSI Evolver > mixer
Yamaha DX-200 > mixer

Endmusik's Monomachine ran the master clock. We sent a synch pulse for the Juno-6's arpeggiator clock in from a spare output on the Machinedrum. Everything was mixed live as it was played on a Yamaha 01V mixer, which went into the computer via SPDIF to a stereo track in Digital Performer. We recorded at 24 bit.

Cool sample, but unfortunately it's a bit over shone by the fact I didn't know that Jhonn Balance had died. RIP.

Checked out all the above..MOV timelapse.hahaha
How the F can you do anything in that small space...would make me nuts.haha

Tried to open a stream from http://www.macstreams.com/..it brought up my "winamp" player...errored it,and couldn`t get any stream file info from it..just the address.

Could you find out what type codec is needed to listen to your stream on PC?

christopher and I both are huge fans, and we definitely tried to do this in the spirit of jhonn. it's really a tremendous loss

hehe... welcome to NYC, land of musicias making do with very little space

as for the stream - I'm not sure. when you go to grab it, its a .pls file - I'm pretty sure that its an m3u stream, or something similar to live365. If you aren't opposed to installing it, iTunes can play the file with no problems at all on pc and mac.

anyone else know how to deal with .pls files on a pc? I'm not in charge of the streaming - that's being handled by chris.

Sure is, and with Peel dying this is surely one of the worst years for music's future.

Some good sounds, Mike. Was it all improv, or had you worked out a lot of it before recording?

Worked it out Mike.

If I copy the .pls address off the file,I can load it into a custom codec player I have.

Will be looking for the stream play time when you post it!

ah, forgot that little bit

Every sound generated by both of us was created on the fly from init patches (chris did have an evolver sequence or two later on that he loaded up)

on both the monomachine and machinedrum, I created kits on the fly, most times programming each track (the mono is basically 6 synths in 1) before hearing it, then slowly mixing in. I had wiped the mono before arriving, as well as the machinedrum.

We're going to be doing this somewhat regularly, it felt really good. And definitely check out I, Parasite - the newest album is simply phenomenal -

heya - check the first post, the stream will be listed there, and as it's linked to chris's IP address it's best to grab it from there. I'll be sure to throw a link here too

On the other hand I did get to hear some dirt from the Troubled Variance site
