in my experience that is exactly what it means. Just because you aren't in fron of your instruments doesn't mean your brain isn't doing all kinds of background processing. At work I always get the best results when I get a good briefing and then forget all about a project for a few weeks - when its time to get to work on it, the ideas invariably flow. OTOH, if I get a brief in th emorning and have to deliver by lunchtime I will always do a comparatively shithouse job.Armadillo wrote:Just because you started a tune a year ago and didn't work on it til yesterday doesn't mean it took a year you know![]()
I work the other way - I get rid of as much krap as I can without spoiling the mood. When I'm done my CPU is usually under 30%.Then my cpu is running at 85% and I have to stopWell actually it does that the last 15 hours.

Hmmm... I find that if I don't finish an idea quickly, or within the week, I can't recapture the original feel or direction I was headed... and the new additions sound tacked on... But that may just be me, trying to avoid putting in enough effort to say "it's finished"... I have so many GREAT 6 bar songs started... But I can't remember what I was thinking then?? It's like art, creative bursts of energy that must be captured quickly... The more you contemplate it the more the creativity fades...

for me, actual work - usually about 6 - 10 hours. This is usually spread over several days weeks and broken up into intervals of a couple of hours max. I have a short attention span so I keep staring at the trees out of the window.
