That John C. died in 1992. John Cage.
Does he play "travelling light" live?
Wrong again, that John C. died in 2013. J.J. Cale.

It was amazing - he played some new material from Mercy (which was great actually) and some radical reinterpretations of older material - in particular Half Past France was a 10 minute long semi improvised and multi layered soundscape laden version that was dark but stunningly beautiful, similar treatment for Fear, and a pounding and very tight version of Villa Albini (one I had not particularly rated before but this version was fantastic). Great band too.

True, of course, although there is a connection, albeit of a slightly different duration... :wheee:
Wikipedia wrote:Upon arriving in New York City, Cale met a number of influential composers. On 9 September 1963 he participated, along with John Cage and several others, in an 18-hour and 40 minute piano-playing marathon that was the first full-length performance of Erik Satie's "Vexations".

After the performance Cale appeared on the television panel show 'I've Got a Secret'. Cale's secret was that he had performed in an 18-hour concert, and he was accompanied by Karl Schenzer, whose secret was that he was the only member of the audience who had stayed for the duration.
Maybe you'd have to have lived during the 1960s to actually do what Mr. Schenzer did. ( :nutter: or :hail: depending on one's way of looking at such things I guess).

Regardless, both interesting artists to be sure...
