Studio One was invented by ex-Steinberg developers who had previously created Nuendo/Cubase SX and the VST3 spec.Wrong Eq wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:09 am At one point I thought that they should just shut down one company and DAW and both work on one together. (with vst2 support)![]()

if plan to use BlueCat Patchwork then Cubase will be better because the opened plugin don't steal the 'focus' from the main host so all the shortkeys even the 'space' remain fully functional (in most cases...) so seems in Cubase the shortkeys go to plugins
for ex.
pressed keyboard > Cubase > BC PatchWork > Spire
vs
pressed keyboard > Spire (and Spire blocks the 'space' key) > BC PatchWork > Studio One (or any other DAWs)
is the order tried both win/mac
...so

the red rectangle shows the focus and if I press the 'space' key from focused BC PatchWork/Spire then Cubase gets it back, the only VST wrapper which knows it in the whole universe that's Cubase/BC Patchwork (... and because Cubase doesn't have any container device by default I would say this is just priceless

I was aware of this when I made my not so serious statement.jamcat wrote: Sat Nov 05, 2022 8:57 amStudio One was invented by ex-Steinberg developers who had previously created Nuendo/Cubase SX and the VST3 spec.Wrong Eq wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:09 am At one point I thought that they should just shut down one company and DAW and both work on one together. He didn't. He worked on stock synths when he worked at Steinberg. According to several interviews with him, his main task was a synth called Plex. He had nothing to do with the development of Cubase nor vst3.wuworld wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:36 am I didn't know matthias from Presonus coded or came up with VST 3 format.

Because Mathias left to work for Presonus?wuworld wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:29 am Why does Cubase crash so much, and take up so much CPU? Still like it though lol.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

No more crashes now. Really enjoying CB 12 control room, and Studio One 6 at the same damn time.
