Low Mic Volume In Discord

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum but I wasn't sure where to put it.

I have a Windows 10 PC and a 1st gen Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. With that I am using an Audio Technica AT2020 mic connected by XLR to the first input on the Scarlett with phantom power turned on.

I use Discord to chat with my friends when gaming and they always complain that I am quiet even though at my end, the Scarlett's gain is turned up to almost full (around 3/4 or the 3-4 o'clock position). In Discord I have echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto gain turned off.

When I have tested my levels in my DAW with the same settings on the Scarlett, they seem fine to me and even in the little test section of Discord so I am not sure why they say I am too quiet and I end up having to turn the gain right up to full. I sit close to the mic, it's on a desk stand and about a fist away from my mouth.

Is this an issue with the mic itself or do I have some settings wrong? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks, I did try with auto gain turned on last week but it didn't seem to make much difference. I am not that impressed with Discord's voice chat/audio quality in general anyway. It seems very prone to cutting in and out or creating a weird Dalek voice effect from time to time or I can hear myself echoing back but this may be because I've had to turn my gain up so high and the mic is picking it up from my headphones. Steam voice chat isn't much better either.
