really? I bought a melodica for $1 from a thrift store as a joke. it has one of the worst sounds I've ever heard in an instrument before. I can't imagine anyone actually seeking that sound out on purpose.
nutty.
nutty.

you put 1$ for a melodica, that must be a child toy.intel wrote:really? I bought a melodica for $1 from a thrift store as a joke. it has one of the worst sounds I've ever heard in an instrument before. I can't imagine anyone actually seeking that sound out on purpose.

as far as i know , melodica prices can go up to 100$
... maybe more, as there are many kinds (alto melodica....)
for those who don't know, Augustus Pablo (reggae producer) became a legend by using a melodica on every simngle track he wrote and the sound he got out of it was quite "spiritual" ....
well back to the original question... i don't know where u could find some samples .....
sorry

its a Hohner Piano 26 model. a "beginner's" melodica. dunno if that's why it sounds so cheesy... but mine sounds like a harmonica, only without expression or soul.mehdi DSP wrote:you put 1$ for a melodica, that must be a child toy.
I guess to each their own. I didn't know it was even a legitimate instrument until I started seeing them crop up on eBay. boy was I surprised.

after a few listenings to his music, i became a big fan

i don't know about the hohner melodica ... in fact i don't know that much about this instrument in general but u can for sure get a good sound from it with a bit of delay or reverb
i think there's a way of blowing it

HI
How can any one say a Melodica makes a horrible sound?
Go listen to some Augustus Pablo; sublime roots reggae - sadly the man is no longer with us - but lives on through his music.
Flipper.
