I don't know what that would mean, but imo the filters and distortion aren't as good as those by many of the competition in that they do smooth, creamy, warm etc. but not crunchy, and that to me is where there's a sonic disparity.vbrother wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 5:32 pm Someone recently wrote about how Falcon's oscillators seem "dated" or flat and that comment's been sitting with me for a few days, especially as I work with Phase Plant, Massive X and have test-driven Current. Still sitting with that one...
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Well since we're not meant to see the video and the product isn't launched yet, it's not really a surprise, is it?muki wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 7:05 pm the video links to this address:

Same thing occurred with GForce OB-X's product page. My guess is the Falcon 3 page will update this Thursday/Friday because that would be one week from when the youtube videos were posted. That's what happened with Gforce OB-X anyway.

Strongly agree on the workflow. It is also by far the most powerful synth I know.bmanic wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:48 pm "Version 3 introduces 3 new oscillators, 4 new effects, MIDI Out support, new scripts, numerous workflow improvements, and an updated and refreshed factory library. All you need to jump-start your creative process."
.. we'll see about the workflow. UVI Falcon was by far the worst workflow of any of the big complex synths/samplers, in my opinion. They have quite a lot to improve if they want to make it anywhere near intuitive or quick to use.
I am quite excited by the physical modeling oscillator.

Hope there is no Spectral Oscillator or something "spectral synthesis",
i mean, i hope there is, just don´t tell anybody here.
I´m REALLY not keen to watch another "such debate". Really
otherwise same: never could make friendship with Falcon.
But obviously, the soundengine is one of the best. At least thats my opinion.

I agree I should have stopped the debate way earlier lolFunky40 wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 12:55 am Hope there is no Spectral Oscillator or something "spectral synthesis",

Generally I love spectral synthesis to play myself but for Falcon I don't really play as you said. It is just to have a collection of awesome presets...
But still, I am very excited by the v3 release, I will give another try to the workflow....

I wish the Slice oscillator would get a rework. It's weird and hurts my brain. Just copy Ableton's simpler and a ton of ppl would probably use it all the time. There's not really an alternative.

The slicer is HORRIBLE to work with. It's a shame because it can do so much. That being said, Falcon is one of my top 3 VSTS. But mostly for presets.Zoopy wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 2:51 am I wish the Slice oscillator would get a rework. It's weird and hurts my brain. It’s funny how many people hate Falcon’s workflow. I must admit, it is far from intuitive, but once you watch their tutorials and see how it’s all laid out, I find it very logically put together and easy to use. The main thing is knowing where to put elements in the chain. It’s not always clear, but you get used to it pretty quickly.
I think people also get a bit confused when they compare a synth like Falcon to a synth like Phase Plant. They’re both multi-engine synthesizers, but Falcon is far more rooted as a sample playback machine than most anything else. I tend to think of it as Kontakt with other synth engines grafted on. Anyway, I think it’s great. I can’t wait until v3 is released. I wonder what the upgrade cost will be.

Ok I was assuming it would be free.... but indeed if it is a major version it could also be a paid update.
I jumped on-board when it was v2 already, somebody rember what was the upgrade cost from v1 to v2?
Edit: doing a bit of archeology,I found that the upgrade (in 2019) from v1 to v2 was free....
Congrats UVI....
