I don’t wanna buy another synth so looking for presets for one of the synths I already have: cubase 12 stock synths, Omnisphere, Serum, Spire, UAD PolyMax and all the NI synths in Komplete Standard.
Im disappointed that Omnisphere doesn’t have any of those presets even thou it has JP-8000 “hardware library” , all of the JP-8000 presets in omnisphere sound too soft, they remind me more of Juno than of JP-8000.

Sylenth1 can do everything 90s-2000th and more.
Combine it with some freebies like Synth1,Tal noisemaker,pg-8x and you gonna have more solid sound than any track in 90s.
Just 90s supersaw sounds too thin for 2023 standards.
It kind of flat, thin detuned 7 sawtooth voices, overused and overrated in time.
Imho any wavetable synth with 16x voices unison sound more massive and modern, than 7x used in late 90s.
i like jp 8080 sound and will be nice to have such filter in the list, but aside that...90s sound,no thanks:)
What is so interesting in 90s sound to you?
Nostalgia or what?

I second those recommendations. Doesn't get any better than that IMO.carrieres wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:02 am I am sorry but you deserve to buy Diva and these banks :

Spire IMO can sound pretty similar to the JP-8000. Check the manual for the oscillator modes, specifically the "Density" parameter.

If i'm not mistaken Spire emulate Virus filter too and it's kind of 90's best in a vst shell, that's why probably never like it,but for 90s sound lovers could be a hit.chk071 wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 5:00 pmI second those recommendations. Every year at some point i start to think, that maybe Sylenth1 is obsolete and have to sell my license and to invest the money in something more modern like Pigments so on,then i find some old abandoned project, start to make some sound design magic with it and alway, absolutelly always this synth deliver someting fresh,so for 90s inspired sound or hybrid analog always Sylenth1,no matter it's not emu or similar to something, just sit and sound so good in the mix.
Cheers

Sylenth1 is excellent for those sounds too. It wouldn't be such an evergreen in Trance if it wasn't.
I find Spire has the edge over it sonically (just sounds a bit thicker to me, and more high end, and, it doesn't have that volume loss when you crank up the resonance of the filter either...), but, Sylenth1 surely also has its advantages.
What I don't like and never understood about Sylenth1 is the filter though: Having global controls for filter cutoff and resonance simply doesn't make any sense to me.

That's unique about Syleth1,the filter control.
There is a diagram ,which say it control both filters, but that honestly doesn't help much when start to learn and work with it,if never used such thing before,it was confusing to me as well when bought it in 2016 and start to experiment with it,considering i wasn't exactly a sound design wizard back then:)
Simple said it's just more control and filter dynamics.
Combination of osc phases and filter control give Sylenth1 unique sound.
It's simple and effective.
But same is Synth1 or V-Station,which for 90's trance are must use to me.
Waldorf Largo is special synth too, despite all bug, limitations so on it has.
Could be used for 90s sound too.
Maybe is just my perception about it,but always feel it like club music synth - dig.ital, cold, but somehow perfect and addictive.
Imho isn't the synth that make the sound but the man who know how to squeeze something from it.
Cheers

Serum and Spire probably have hundreds of high quality trance soundbanks each. Check out the Spire developers webshop for some big names on the scene, often they have their own webshop that might be cheaper. There are also the synths JP6K and Viper that are available for very reasonable money (often on sale too), plus there is a Virus emulation now that is supposed to be quite good, check the instruments forum.

I'm glad you said that about the JP8000 filter. I really liked it.VELLTONE MUSIC wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 4:54 pm i like jp 8080 sound and will be nice to have such filter in the list
My favourite sound from the JP was the Feedback oscillator and being able to control that with the Ribbon controller was so cool live.

I bought some 90s / 2000s Dance Classics presets for Spire.
They sound in the ball park to what I was looking for.
But I still want to get closer to those classic trance sounds especially super-saw leads.
SuperWaveSynths look like they emulate JP-8000 well but unfortunately they're Windows only, and I'm on M1 Mac.
