How many decades have you remained impressed by the simplistic sound of a string twanging?

The thing is, when you want a guitar sound, which is a staple of music for the past 75 years, you reach for a guitar. And when you want a Moog bass, you reach for a Minimoog. It's just as much a staple in music as a bass guitar. When you want THAT sound, you want that sound.

That's the one.

There's a unique forum tragedy to a lone person, here Teksonik, who pours scorn and derision on everyone around him (and it's almost always a him) for not understanding or appreciating music, when they clearly don't understand or appreciate music.

At the same time, it's not inconsistent to say that another MiniMoog emulation is not going to set the world on fire, however good it is. That can be its own form of elitism, the absolute purity of the modelling. It's just a nice thing to have the basics done really well.

But hey, we all get 18 pages of entertainment for this sort of thing.

Just get a used Behringer model D for 200 USD give or take and scratch that itch with some surprisingly accurate hardware. The sound maybe simple but not boring.

That's not the same thing as saying that it's the "flagship" of the Arturia collection. I agree that it's not. The Minimoog is overdone and, IMNSHO, there are better choices than Arturia. In fact, Arturia lagged for years behind much better emulations. I think that if there is any "flagship" then it's the new digital recreations, e.g., the Synclavier.

I generally agree. Both about there being better minis and about the digital arturia synths being the best value in the collection. However, although I have a couple other 303's and a few minimoog emus, I have to admin that I've grown to really like both of these additions to V collection X. I've actually always liked the arturia mini, it has a quality of it's own even if it isn't the most accurate. The problem with arturia analog emus is that they are missing something in the low or mids that gives it punch. But they have a nice sizzle and juiciness that has always worked really well with the mini. I'm enjoying the new arturia mini on top of legend and model 72 for it's own sound. And I've been enjoying the Acid V as well. The sequencer and additional sub as well as built in distortion effects gives nice results. Even though I think for example ABL3 is more accurate, I'm having more fun with Acid V. They are actually the two instruments I'm having the most fun with. Sometimes absolute accuracy isn't the most important thing.

Anybody else got a terrible upgrade price? I own VC8, FX2, Pigments, a fair few others like SQ80 and some other FX and got an offer of….£249. The same as someone who has none of that with their current offer. Arturia’s loyalty pricing has been a bit odd since 9 onwards.

I got an upgrade price of 99€ currently with owning VC9, Acid V, FX3, Pigments but it's not worth it for me to upgrade still.

I'm pretty sure they will go down with pre-VC9 upgrade prices sooner or later. I can't believe - especially with the current synths they offer not being interesting enough - they can hold this pricing strategy in current times any longer.
My prediction for BF 2024 you will see an upgrade price below 200 or even around 100.

Not really interested in the Augmented stuff, the CP70 is OK bit I have more than enough of that stuff, same with the 303 (have Roland's and Phoscyon 2), From 9 I had the Korg MS20 so there was only really the SQ80 and a bunch of updated older stuff.

I did used to keep up to date when it was the £99 updates- honestly I am not even sure I would have bothered if it was £99 this time.

I must say acid v is really really good. I own phoscyon 2 and Abl3, but acid v is good in a different way (effects, workflow) . For 50€ I had to get it (was before vcx was released)

I don't get why the switches on the new Mini cannot be MIDI Learned. Seems like an odd choice.

Otherwise, I thought it sounds good except for the feedback.

You can upgrade to VC X for € 99 and sell your Acid V license here on KVR for € 50. That way the upgrade will only cost you € 49

I did a similar thing. I already had VC 9, then later bought Acid V for the introductory price of € 49 and then bought Minifreak V on KVR for around € 50 as well. My upgrade price to VC X on the current sale was also € 99, so I bought it and sold both Acid V and Minifreak on KVR for € 50. It meant that upgrading to VC X from VC 9 + Acid V + Minifreak V was in fact free

Hopefully it's an oversight. it certainly doesn't make sense in light of the fact that the previous version allowed everything to be learned. I have sent them an email and their support has responded that they have registered this as a bug. Whether they do anything or not is another matter. Sometime last year I informed them of the fact that there were clicks and pops in the Solina plugin, they confirmed that they were able to reproduce the issue, but there have been several updates since then without this issue being addressed

Arturia has lots of Synths that for whatever reason have things that could be mappable but are not

I have always found that weird. This is especially true for buttons. Which never makes sense to me as most MIDI controllers in my experience have a bunch of buttons and/or pads that I never end up using because I can't program the buttons on my Synths
