Ozone vs Fabfilter for mastering

With a balanced mix it’s not as much of an issue anymore now that the loudness wars are mostly over. YouTube limits your recording if it is too loud so use whichever is comfortable. I started with Fabfilter even before the Ozone days and before that was using the Precision plug on UAD and with a good mix they all do fine. Ozone has the whole mastering process laid out if one unsure, but I think for myself I can get a little more loudness out of the Fabfilter before destroying the mix. But again, there’s really no point to get a -5 db mix anymore - the streaming platforms will limit it anyways.

I don't really have to, you can see this for yourself. And it has been discussed here ad nauseum. Psytrance is around -7, dnb is around -6. So on and so forth.

My default mastering chain in Wavelab has Ozone, Pro-L, and Pro-MB, although I rarely use Pro-MB except in the rare case when Ozone doesn't quite get me there. For an all-in-one solution that is very flexible, very well thought out, and sounds great, Ozone is still the reigning champ, but there's no reason you can't mix/match with other individual plugins.

Ozone advanced + a good metering solution. also use FF plugins (as well as some Waves etc) as needed. the one thing missing from Ozone is the inclusion of Insight (or equiv) metering (although i have the v1 Insight from an earlier version of Ozone). but there are YouLean, Waves, and other metering tools which are very useful to the overall "mastering" process.

For mastering, definitely Ozone. Its cheaper, limiter no need introduction + some other cool modules in there that are good alternatives to some really expensive plugs (gulfoss,soothe...)
