I think the subscription model is great. The ability to still have the instruments play/automate is very forward-thinking, and deals with one of the biggest criticisms of subs.

Just subscribe for a few months a year e.g every 3 months, when feeling productive, and get access to a la carte Spitfire sounds spanning more libraries than most of us would want to buy. Much better option than paying hundreds of dollars on libraries that only get used a couple of times, because it turns out that outside of a very narrow performance niche (Not something that can be discerned from the amazing demo tracks) the library just doesn't fit with what you're writing.

The always-online aspect is definitely a lame, but I'm not sure it would be a show-stopper for me. If I can spice up my tracks with some top-class sounds, every so often, for very little entry fee, it might just be worth the stress...for me

Then again so does/did the Labs installation process, and most of the Labs freebies I tried didn't do much for me anyway. Now they're doing the subscription BS and mixing the freebies with some "paid Labs" too? Farewell Spitfire.
It's so bad I gave up on it.

I don't like the new free spitfire labs apps. Yes there is many many free stuff in it, but the whole app and the artwork, its not my thing. And the app itself is very buggys. I can't even stop downloads...

So, can I still use the free LABS offline or not?
I guess I will have to do some update. Because, as mentioned, half of the instruments don't work right now.

I used to think Spitfire is the coolest brand on earth.. :scared:

So if I do NOT download LABS+ and continue to use the original LABS plugin, am I going to have any problems? That's all I want to know.

It will probably take a few months to get everything running smoothly. The backend for subscription services are probably not a walk in the park.
Neon City for u-he Repro - 80s pop & Synthwave soundbank
HARDWARE SAMPLER FANATIC - Akai S1100/S950/Z8 - Casio FZ20m - Emu Emax I - Ensoniq ASR10/EPS

Maybe, I have an issue where I moved the file locations and now I can't get it to work because they no longer exist in the Spitfire app for me to direct them to the new location

Old version probably is fine if you don't update. If you updated to the new version, then sorry you're SOL. It's in their FAQ
https://labsplus.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/a ... BS-offline

The plugin definitely won't open properly if you open it offline - you'll get a login dialog box.

That's one hell of an expensive beta test for paying customer to start... Hope the best for anyone actively using it. Don't forget to bounce :borg:

Same for me. Such software is simply crap. It introduces security issues which raises the costs. And if the servers can't be reached because of maintenance work or something else you can't use it. It's worthless.

sorry, you can't use your piano for 14 days, because you posted on X that there are only two genders.

Offline usage is currently in development and is actually priority for the team. That was stated on the Labs discord side. Hope they'll release it for soon.

That was Twitter. On X it's the other way around. But other things get you long before political activism can, like malware or forced OS updates. That's why I never connect my workstations to the web, it makes life a lot easier. No nasty surprises in the studio when you turn on the computers, no interrupts during sessions, no rescheduling.

That's another thing. I don't want to be forced to use Discord or Facebook or X or similar platforms to receive such information. That's unprofessional.
