The Wikipedia entry for "song" does mention semantic widening of the term making it inclusive of non-vocal songs.

If everything is a song then nothing is a song. The term has no meaning then.

How can "everything being a song" be nothing when "everything is a song?"
Why would everything being referenced as one thing be determined as having no meaning?
