I agree, that puts people off, then they discontinue the sub and move on to other software like Arturia/Tal that have their most popular synths anyways.
A person who subs for a year ends up paying the same amount of money that the guy who does the Play for Life deal. It literally makes no sense to punish the customers and not give them a plugin,at the end of a year. Plugins are pure profit, besides the original RnD that goes into making them.
In the case of Roland, they're simply cloning their own code in most cases. Shocker, they are trying to milk their own customers for upfront money vs money over time. What difference does the guy who pays over time vs at one time matter, if the plugins don't cost Roland any real money to make.
It's not like they're releasing new plugins every week.
It makes no business sense in the long term to lose customers who eventually feel a sense of bitterness when they don't get a free plugin.

Actually I don't. What would make more sense is if Roland (besides actually fixing their software) were to just sell the individual lifetime keys for $99 a piece on Black Friday and every other time they want to do a sale without a sub giveaway of any kindGamma-UT wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2024 4:23 pm I think you might underestimate the number of people who sign up for the sub in the expectation of getting those licences.
Then as a reward for subscribers give them a lifetime key or two every year after 12 months of a continual subscription either paid in advance or monthly. Let's say you sign up today for an Ultimate Sub. A year from now on October 7th 2025, you get two free lifetime keys. It doesn't matter how you paid for it, monthly or yearly. It doesn't make any sense to hand out lifetime keys at the beginning of a sub as you have those products as part of the sub
For me even if they never make a new synth, if they fixed RCM I might be interested in a monthly subscription if I had the promise of lifetime keys at the end
The issue for me is that I already have the two main lifetime keys I really wanted. Asking me to drop $200 on a yearly subscription when Roland runs sales like on Black Friday is a bridge to far, as there is always another synth or two that I want to buy that's on sale for that same money or less
But I would subscribe monthly as I won't even notice $20. That's not much more than a meal at the Drive Through these days

I just noticed when I login on the RC site in the Loyalty Program/Rewards section it says:
Rewards Status: Pending
Rewards Months Remaining: 2
I have lifetime keys for the D-50 and XV-5080. I bought those several years ago.
Why does it say 2 months? Maybe I'm just forgetting something..
