I visited soniksynth.com and was really impressed. I posted in another thread that Sonar 4 PE is crashing when I try to save a preset, (total bummer). I want to try to get to the bottom of this, and figured it might just be best to start a thread.
I’ve been poking around, and have found a few anomalies. My first observation compairs my Sampletank 2 LE folder with my Sonik Synth folder. In my Sonik Synth folder, I only have Sonik Synth 2 presets, SS2Instruments, and SS2Pref folders. In SampleTank2 LE, I in addition to these, an STLEImage, ST2LEEffects folder and a BACKUP folder. Am I missing some folders in SS2??
Also, while looking at soniksynth.com I noticed that my GUI is not the same as the picture on the site. http://www.soniksynth.com/Picts/product ... ce_big.jpg
On my GUI, I have no window under my effects (the area in the lower left) I have no button for Part/Combi. Along the top, under Sonik Synth 2, my GUI doesn’t say Combi/ Browser, it says Synth Workstation. I have no mix/efx/split buttons in the combi section, and at the bottom of the combi, I have Back-up where in the picture is shows Rename. In the area above the ball with the 2 mine is completely different. Rather than the buttons that say COMBI/PARTS, I have Save, Delete,Rename,Search,Prefs, and Net.
Ok,,, what am I missing?? Do I have the wrong version? Did something not load? Does your GUI match what’s in the pic, or is it like mine? Thanks.

That interface is an early version (ah, you can see what features we might be adding in the future though...
). Anyway, that graphic will be changed as it is a mistake that it is up there.
The images folder isn't necessary for SS2 because the bitmap images for the search engine section are just put into the Elements folder with the sounds. It works differently. The "effects" folder isn't used with SS2 because it can't load effect patches, only SampleTank 2 can (a nice feature for those that use ST2).
Bottom line is that you have everything you are supposed to have. But, where is the problem? Or were you just wondering if you had the wrong thing?

I've been using the program for only a few hours,
but I can't seem to find an answer in the manual: How do I open a Combi and then go back to individual sounds? My Delete bar on the left side of the window does not appear to do anything. Any tips?

Yes, I've got a great tip for this. You can wipe out each sound of the combi individually by using the little "Empty" icon in the mix window of the plug-in but I have something better than that. When you first load up the plug-in before you've loaded a combi hit the SAVE AS button in the interface and save a blank template combi. Then whenever you want to wipe everything out to play single sounds you just load your blank template combi and you're back.
