Next they will go after companies who use "Cable" in thier names. Cable TV, the San Francisco Cable Cars etc.

Then the next wave of lawsuits will be going after companies that have " " in the name. They've got a space in between "Monster" and "Cable", and noboby else sould be able to use it but them. It would confuse the customersTeksonik wrote:Next they will go after companies who use "Cable" in thier names. Cable TV, the San Francisco Cable Cars etc.

I haven't read through all 4 pages of this interesting topic so I hope that the following link I post has not been posted earlier:

A couple years ago, I read an article about Monster Cable suing Mike Shkolnik of www.MadMartian.com who had a Monster Shop webpage. I think the guy sold Halloween supplies and monster masks.
What makes the above link interesting (at least, to me) is that Mike documents the whole experience of his battle with Monster Cable by scanning the original documents sent by Monster Cable's lawyers and Mike's responses to the lawyer's letters. Feel free to read the actual documents.
It makes for some fascinating entertainment and a glimpse into Monster Cable's bully tactics.
Cheers,
Rabban

I loved that part of his reply to their apologies:
Number of children who imagined there was a monster under the bed: probably millions
Number of children who imagined there was an audio interconnect cable under the bed: probably none.

This is my first post at KVR.
I wrote the following to every e-mail adress on the Monstercable Webside.
"Dear Sirs,
I am (have been) a potential customer of many of your products. I plan to expand my home studio in terms of audio quality. And this year I will spend a fair amound of cash on professional cable connections within my studio setup.
But I have to inform you and everyone in your company, that due to your business behavior regarding legal and intellectual property (http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,141 ... 25,00.html), the exellent products of your company are no longer an option for me.
I will boykott your products, until I get information, that your current business policy has been changed significantly.
If the article in the "denver post" is misleading in any way, please inform me,
because I plan to make copys of it and hang them up in musicstores and musicschools.
I´ll e-mail the articel to every person with musical background in my adressbook.
I know from Feedback in Internet Forums, that I am not alone with this.
So you might get some money through legal setlements with e.g. "Monster.com", but be shure that your companies reputation will decline. So please stop this nonsense and inform everyone that you stopt it. Because your cables are great and I would love to make them part of my studio."
I encourage everyone to write similar e-mails, to make them reconsider or at least think about their behaviour.
Power to the people
Oh, no! What about the sesamestreet cookie-"monster" !!!
(Runs away in panic)

Nice one Chris!!
Is there a way the the link to the Dever Post can be posted at other music related forums - Cubase.net, NI, CM, FM etc ?
Let's let everyone know what sort of business practices this company indulges in.

I also sent an email to their CEO. Let's hope we make an impact. This kind of corporate greed and bullying has got to stop. It's just disgusting.
I for one am ripping out all my monster cables and replacing them with high quality "Radio Shack" brand

I've posted the link to the Logic and Cubase mailing lists, along with the appropriate link to their contact site and a remark everybody should join the boycott.
I really hope this will have an impact.
And well, honestly, I'd even like it more if the company went away from the market instead of just changing their policies a bit.
It seems that they're up to this madness for quite some years allready without learning anything. Time to stop them.
Regardless whether they change their policies, I will never buy anything of them anyways. They just shouldn't have started this in the first place.
