jamcat wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 9:14 am That other stuff is worth way less than 31€ if you don’t use any of it. For me the only addons that I want are the MixFX, and I already bought them all years ago. I’m not going to pay rent on stuff I already own.
Wait , studio one 7 perpetual now comes with all with mix-fx , or is it for the subscription plan only ?
This alone is worth the upgrade for me .

edit : only for the subscription , bugger
If you watch that original v7 launch video, it sounds like it comes with everything they've put out. It was a serious turn off when I found out that I'd have to shell out even more cash to buy mix-fx.

Also, what happened to Gregor? He was the best spokesperson/explainer for S1.
What sound do dreams make when they die?

Post

No, it doesnt include all of that additional stuff ... this you have to buy apart or do the subscrition...
They newly added the audio batch converter, the Presence XT editor, the new instruments (one was subscription only before and the other was a paid soundset) and some other soundsets for presence...

But the Mix engine FX, the additional Fat Channel XT modules, the Channel Strip collection and most of the soundsets they offer are still seperate purchases or subscription only...
I had a ticket lately with the support and discussed that stuff as I wondered myself...

i love s1s toolbar. since coming back to s1 when ive just been taking time off on the couch ive taken my laptop with me and have been slowly chipping away at working on the perfect toolbar for me. I've essentially added the ableton browser to s1. these two macro pages i have bound to O and P. Just creates lightning fast workflows.

I started writing a google doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2P ... dkgAvV/pub that I may finish but I feel like its something I'm maybe going to make a youtube video on. It's one of those things where its requiring a lot of visual examples. I want to do this justice bc for me this has been a supercharge for my workflow.

That looks really nice! I'd love to see more.

Not if we are all trying to do the same thing, which is mixing. You can have your preferences but that's a different thing to your needs.
If you don´t see any reason to use them... same to you... just take the "normal" version...!
I don't even take those. There are a bazillion plugins out there, what ships with your DAW is surely completely irrelevant? I wouldn't even know what plugins Studio One ships with, the only ones I use are the limiter and ProEQ. I don't even know that these "mix-fx" things are. I know there's a thing called Ampire but I've never used it because I've had my own amp sim preferences since long before I started using Studio One. If I needed a compressor, I'd probably use the native one but that's such a vanishingly rare thing that it's not really relevant.

It depends what you're doing. I've always found Joe Gilder's videos much more useful and he feels a lot more like someone who actually knows what he's talking about to me. Gregor is great explaining the software itself but I think the way he uses the software is not necessarily the best way of getting things done.

Wow, cool... we are all using the same plugins from the same manufacturers, we are doing everything the same way, we are doing all the same kind of music with just slight variations...
This makes things so easy!!! One world! :tu:

or probably not??? :dog:

I meant the non "+" version of S1 which doesn´t include the additional stuff and saves you 31,-€

I save my comments for the rest... you´ll know better anyway...
Have a good day! :tu:

Do you seriously think that a guy who mixes rock bands for a living couldn't mix an EDM track just as well? Or vice versa? The principles don't change and the tools don't have to, either.

Are you drinking varnish?
I asked you if you would agree that people for instance use different plugins and your answer is actually not really when we want to achieve the same things = mixing...
Because of the ridicule of your answer I was a bit sarcastic that it´s great that we all do and use the same and your response is that somebody who can mix a rock band can mix an EDM song too...?? :o

While is true for sure what´s the connection between these??

Great conversation:

Me: Good weather today!
Bones: No, I haven´t eaten enough today...
Me: ??? ... anyway but the sunshine is great to feel on the skin...
Bones: You're not telling me that someone who is hungry can't also be thirsty??
Me: ????? ... whatever! :dog:

Really now? Are you still okay? Loss of reality somehow??
Take less drugs, Bones! :tu:

Huge L for Presonus IF they dont update the way the community posting works in the exchange. its a latest post hodge podge? you have people posting their tracks in the middle of people asking how things work? if they make this a lot better and more forum like im supportive of it but the fact they say nothing isnt a good sign.

I can't say I've ever had any useful answers from their forums, I don't think it will be a great loss. That said, it does seem like Presonus are putting in a lot of effort to try and boost their bottom line. I imagine that might be the gentle hand of Fender, pushing them to make more money. Let's hope it doesn't go any further than it already has.
Trancit wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:00 amI asked you if you would agree that people for instance use different plugins and your answer is actually not really when we want to achieve the same things = mixing...
So you're suggesting that "mix-fx" plugins aren't about mixing? OK. But your question is absurd. There are so many plugins out there, literally thousands, that of course we aren't all using the same ones. But this is what happens when you focus on the process, instead of worrying about the results. The process is largely irrelevant - use what you want - but the end result should be similar, however you go about it. Ultimately, we are all trying to make our songs sound as good as we can, aren't we?
While is true for sure what´s the connection between these??
Seriously? I have to explain to you that you can use all of these things to make any kind of music you want? Are you so f**king blinkered that something so completely obvious needs to be explained to you? You can see it perfectly in Preonus's product specialists - 99% of everything Gregor shows/teaches you can be applied to any kind of music you want to make in Studio One, as does 99% of everything that Joe Gilder shows you, even though the kind of music they work on is completely different. You might want to kid yourself that it's otherwise, because some know-nothing fucktard on YouTube has a financial interest in convincing you of that, but that doesn't make it so.

Just another nail in the coffin. They stopped presenting at Superbooth in Germany (cheap, because Gregor is German, so travel costs are low), and their marketing on YT for v7 is a mere joke. Nothing since the very first presentations - hastily produced in the Presonus HQ in the U.S.

Maybe something fundamental has changed, but I remember the days, when social media was flooded with information after major releases of DAW's.
