I had missed this detail, which is what made me think this was at least a comparable choice. I see now that it doesn't fit in this discussion at all. Your Surface Pro suggestion has me looking in a better direction.

Just remember that Microsoft isn't your only choice here. Brands like Asus and Acer do similar devices, usually at better prices and with the keyboard and stylus included.

Thank you, Bones. I hope the time you spent researching the CE-1 (somebody needs to tell them that's already a thing) was at least interesting, to mitigate the potential waste of time. I really appreciate your advice.
