Yeah, it's amazing value. It's got some really fantastic tools in there.

This would level up across the board from native DAW plug ins.

I have both Softube and UAD plugins. When I'm working, I don't consciously think about which company's plugin to choose, but I always end up with a project that's mostly mixed using UAD plugins and not a single Softube plugin. At some point, I even started selling my Softube plugins, despite being a big fan of Softube in the beginning.

It's a similar situation to choosing studio monitors. I initially followed recommendations from the internet but decided to visit a store and spent several hours physically testing monitors. In the end, I chose something that wasn't even on my original list.

With plugins, the process is easier. You can start with general recommendations online, but ultimately, you need to do your homework: download trial versions, try mixing with them, and decide which ones help you achieve the best final results.

Also Softube Amp Room seems to be becoming more of a bloated mess with every update. Takes ages to scan into hosts and to load and is very sluggish

Only you can decide, try both demos and decide for yourself.

I prefer UAD, opinions are like as....... every one has got one, etc. Asking opinions will turn in to a never ending debate when only your opinion counts.

What were you considering and what did you end up choosing?

I think it was between Adam and Dynaudio lyd, and bought the older Dynaudio bm

fwiw this is one of the tracks use to test speakers. It's very minimal and starts with some highs, but has a very low but punchy bass that comes in. There are a few parts to the bass that I think are a great test of the low end and low end transient response. A good speaker will show all the little differences and have a good impact. It's also pretty sick to hear the detailed production on great speakers.

Mark Henning - Almaha913
https://open.spotify.com/track/0IYvfR05 ... ISrPDtsRrB

I definitely recommend everyone makes a short playlist of a range of tracks they know well, I think are good for testing speakers. If you keep the same list it can really help dial into qualities and differences when auditioning speakers and setting up speaker in a room.

This is perhaps a bit random but a great track for checking mid range detail and transient response.

Lyle Lovett - I've been to memphis
https://open.spotify.com/track/3zoi4xRL ... rHyD5BPaZB

And I have this one as well the low end is really missing in some ways and I feel it's a good test in case a monitor might make it sound more full range than it really is. From one of my favourite albums, but in isolation definitely has mix flaws that should show up on good speakers.

Muse - Stockholm Syndrome
https://open.spotify.com/track/3ox5lIXR ... 0o-BJY8RGA

I also have a half dozen other tracks, mainly electronic, that I'm very familiar with and are good for testing and where I can really pick up the speaker qualities, and tell if anything is missing, or over done.

But these three above cover the technical aspects pretty well to me. Two that should just sound sonically great, and one where you should be able to hear the missing low end and.

Has anyone found much of a difference in CPU requirements?

I only have free promos from both companies but on my 9 year old macbook pro I can run over a dozen instances of AUD Century channel strip without noticing but Softube VCA compressor used so much, I cannot even have 1 instance of it in a track in a mix. It did sound great though whist testing it with a project of only 1 track.

I think UAD century strip is well worth the $39 sale price as its great for sound design.

BTW UAD native plug ins do not require an internet connection to load or run, this is miss information!

False claim here -“ LUNA is the only recording software with the sound of classic studio equipment like analog console summing”

Harrison “Mixbuss” is well established and the original to make the same claim

Now after last update, AmpRoom finally behaves smooth as expected. All the old legacy presets do open without crash and preset switching takes a second instead a minute.
Now it’s finally usable.

super happy with that latest update!
