Just to preempt the comments that you will inevitably get on SoundCloud, but your track will be relatively quiet compared to the majority of tracks in OSC. It can definitely be pushed quite a bit higher to make it more competitive, if you want to do so.
I downloaded the .wav from SoundCloud and added the following plugins to bring it up a little.
Venn Audio - Free Clip 2.
- Input Gain : +4dB
- Clip Type : Hard
- Oversample : 2x
- Ceiling -3dB
Thomas Mundt - LoudMax
- Thresh : -3dB
- ISP : On
- Out : -1dB
Original : Peak : -5.8, LUFS-S (max) : -14.0, LUFS-I : 20.5
Boosted : Peak : -0.9, LUFS-S (max) : -8.1, LUFS-I : -14.6
Hope this helps, and good luck !

I started off feeling ambitious this month, but I ended up not getting along super well with the synth, which I suspect is my fault. At any rate, I decided to make a clean break and go with what I have. Here it is:
https://soundcloud.com/h_s_j_e/osc-196- ... al_sharing
I used Reaper 7.40, 28 instances of Primer 2, 7 instances of Cockos ReaEQ, 5 instances of Sonic Anomaly's Transpire, 5 instances of Cockos ReaComp and one instance of TDR Limiter No.6.

Thanks! I thought it seemed a little too quiet. It turns out I had Reaper normalizing the render to LUFS-S(max) rather than LUFS-I. I added the clipper, tweaked the mix a bit, and reuploaded the track.neverbeeninariot wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 8:39 amWelcome! Hey there,
Primer 2
I had a sound design session first to see what this synth can do for me.
I extensively used the randomizer buttons and I was surprised positively.
These are some of the best randomizers I found in a synth.
Whatever the synth designers did, they did some thing seriously right.
I used some of the premade drum presets and tweaked them here and there.
Overall I often used the internal delay and reverb of the plugin which are limited but usable to some extent.
It is a synth full of intentional choices to maximize the outcome while reducing the amount of knobs, cool.
At first I had to overcome the prejudices that the not so hyped GUI implied to me.
It helps me to not have expectations with a new synth but to see what it can do for me and then use it accordingly.
Works better for me than to force it into doing what I want now.
I mean this about certain characters, not sound design in general.
Tune was created using Reaper.
37x Primer 2
Airwindows ADClip8, ToTape8
Deelay
OTT
ReaLimit
ReaXComp
Sala
Spectral Compressor
Supermassive
ThrillseekerLAmkII
ZL Equalizer

Enjoy!

Hi all,
I'm new to these parts, but have been hearing internet chatter about the One-Synth challenge for some time now, particularly from the Surge XT community. I was very pleased that the folks at Audible Genius announced Primer as this month's featured synth. Since I'm already somewhat familiar with Primer, I decided to go out on a limb and submit my first track to the challenge.

This is thirteen instances of Primer created in Reaper.
There are also 2 or 3 instances of ReaEQ and one instance of ReaComp.

Here is my piece.
I also decided to try out the Luna DAW, now that I can, and see if the drivers would work. They worked well enough, at least.
https://soundcloud.com/g-jardine/purcha ... tz-osc-196
DAW: Luna
Importantly, I also installed Steinberg's Asio Generic Low Latency driver, so I did not need to use my audio interfaces.
Primer 2 x6
MAudio MCompressor x3
MAudio MEqualizer x2
Direct Approach LimitX x1
Direct Approach CompPlus x1
reverb: OrilRiver x2
Luna Stock Plugins:
Stock Plugins: some compressors (e.g. Studer A800) modules were automatically applied, but I think I only permitted free modules to remain and disabled all the UAD demo software.
Comments:
Order of care (and incidentally the order of completion)
1. Composition.
2. Arranging instruments. Fun to try them, but don't always have much strategy here.
3. Pretended to mix. Quite possibly made it even worse by doing so, but probably not by much. Really, I want to postpone messing with effects plugins for awhile. So pads and highs might overpower the piece, etc.
I like the song itself, anyway.
