Can you tell me if there exists an app that will convert ST2 and SS2 sound patches to other formats such as Akai and others? I know Extreme Sample Converter converts ST1 files but I don't think it supports ST2 and SS2.

I'd like to be able to use ST2 and SS2 samples in my MPC4000 when I'm gigging w/o my computer.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!

Sorry, the wave data or the instruments cannot be converted directly. If you want to trigger sounds in another sampler, you'll have to manually render the sounds you want to individual files.

I know, it's a bit of a bummer, but SS2 and ST2 weren't really meant to be used like that. :?

This only applies to Sonic Capsules and Sonic Station, which are multiformat titles.

There are no applications that convert out of ST2 format and it is not intended to be an open format (just like you can't convert out of hardware romplers like the Motif or Triton- even though technically it is possible to rip the waves).

But, for your own purposes if you own ST2 or SS2 (or a triton or motif for that matter) you can sample them yourself (just can't share them with others). In the case of plug-ins one easy way to do that is to use Chainer to export. Even the demo version for free will do that. You can get that here: www.xlutop.com I recommend buying it because it is very cheap. You just select which notes you want and it converts them to waves. Then you can load the waves into your MPC.

Another program that can do this and loops sustained sounds is High Life from Disco DSP. That can export to wave now as well I think... or maybe not. I thought I saw an update for that because before it only went to SFZ format (for the SFZ soft sampler)
