Presonus : "So we are targeting 3-4 "major" feature releases every year..."

Right. People like me who were naturally reluctant to buy an upgrade that stops upgrading after a year were sold on it because of a full-court press to convince us that we would get more updates faster, with new features being added regularly as they became available, instead of saved up over months to be released in one big update. But something changed about 6 months into this year of supposed free-flowing updates, and they reneged on the very thing that they sold us this limited upgrade period on.
We know they went back on the regular free-flowing updates promise, because both Gregor and Joe told us they did. Gregor talked about this change in that podcast he did in November, and Joe inadvertently spoke about it a few days ago, here:
Notice at the very end of the video (23:30) he says, "The next one I'm gonna do in Fender Studio Pro. Finally! I've had it on my computer and I haven't been able to talk to you about it for so long."
So it has been ready for quite a while. They could have released it back when every single Studio One 7 buyer still was eligible for upgrades. But they held it back and sat on it for purely marketing reasons. They withheld it from us when we were entitled to it. So as far as I'm concerned, anyone who bought Studio One 7 and has been denied a free upgrade to Fender Studio Pro 8 has been ripped off by Fender, and is entitled to a free upgrade under the original conditions that existed when they bought it. Fender changed the rules in the middle of the game, and it is Studio One's most loyal users who are being penalized for it.

Yes obviously they held it back and sat on it for purely marketing reason ,..
Anyway Cross-graded to Cubase Pro already late 2024 as their direction and intentions became more and more clear
The "upgrades" had already been lacking substance for quite a while, etc, etc,..
And, yes, lately they messed up once again with the latest promisses and intentions
Just a matter of time before they will suck people even more, one way or the other
In case Cubase also goes subscription, full or partly, bye-bye, like Adope and Topaz
There is still Reaper

That is utter speculation.jamcat wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:21 pm So it has been ready for quite a while. You'll get no argument from me that Fender/Presonus promised us the moon with SO7, and delivered almost nothing. Totally agree, but there's no way of knowing when SP8 was ready. Just because Joe said he's had it awhile does not mean it's been ready. He's probably had early betas to critique and make suggestions, not a final product.

The bottom line is all of those new features in Fender Studio Pro 8 did not come out of nowhere overnight. They were supposed to be released as incremental updates over the past 6 months, not stored up until our update period expired. That's literally what we were paying for when we handed over our money a year ago.

That's a fair point, and I do agree with you on that.jamcat wrote: Mon Jan 19, 2026 2:20 am The bottom line is all of those new features in Fender Studio Pro 8 did not come out of nowhere overnight. Studio One Pro 7 shouldn’t have been ended to version 7.2.
I was expecting at least a 7.5. I think all users expected that, not just me.
Fender Studio Pro 8 is a Studio One Pro 7.5 in my opinion.

If you do not want to "trust" Fendersonus becuase of a video - that's cool.
You can either stick with the software or move on.

I think people don't want to trust Fender because of how they have treated Studio One and its users.
PreSonus had a solid perfect score when it came to product development, management, and customer care, up until Fender came along.
I think what most people are working through is the same as what I'm working through. We love Studio One, and trust the development teams. We find Studio One to be amazing and irreplaceable. Our problem isn't the product, our problem is we don't trust Fender to be good shepherds of PreSonus, Studio One, or its userbase, entirely because of their record so far.

We can discuss it in the forums too as that's what the forums are for. Even if some don't want to see parts of the continuing discussion...Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Mon Jan 19, 2026 12:56 pmPretty much ALL of us were there - man.dastewart wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 10:49 pmIf you think I'm wrong then I won't try and persuade you otherwise. Well “our” problem is not a problem for all of us.
If you like the product - support the product.
If you don’t - then don’t.
But a continued “whine and cheese party” aimed at Fender is pointless.
They own it all and will do with it what they want. Pretty sure they could care less whether we like them or not.

Yeah I get it. But to what end? We want to keep beating a dead horse from Sept 2024? Especially now that Studio One and its v7 cycle is dead?VitaminD wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 12:27 amWe can discuss it in the forums too as that's what the forums are for. I can’t think of another topic around here that is deader than dirt than that tired video and the expectations manufactured from it.

It will keep on going for quite awhile. Please make peace with the fact that this news will reach people at different points in time, and they will feel the need to discuss/vent. It will also get rehashed at various points in the future too no doubt, long after the initial 'fire' has been quelled.Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 12:37 amYeah I get it. Then it should be simple for you to stop engaging with it. Yet...Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 12:37 amYeah I get it. But to what end?
