You will get the update when it is ready since as long as it is registered to your account so it doesn't matter where you buy it from :)
That is how it has worked for years now so i don't think that has changed.

Imagine how pissed the retailers (on top of the affected customers) would be if it was otherwise. (Not to mention that it would be an illegal (and even jailable) offense in the EU.)

So no, you don't need to wait until May to find out. / edit: not you, D-Fusion

I also took the plunge, based on the wording that anyone who registers Reason will qualify for Reason 14. It didn't state anywhere that you would need to buy the license from their own store.

Let's see in May what's going to happen. Otherwise I'll definitely send them an e-mail.
I sold my Reason 11 Suite license back in the day. But a while ago, I realized I still had the licenses for the Rack Extensions that were part of the Suite. At the current price, I figured I’d just go for it again. It feels like reconnecting with an old friend, though we’ve definitely grown apart a bit

I think it’s when you register your new license that you become a Reason owner whatever the shop you’ve bought it. So it’d be fine in may. I don’t know if you get « Reward points » however when not buying directly from RS.

Yes you do and you even get them when you register the free lite version which used to be given away with hardware.

Any reason to update from 11 if your just using Rack vst?

Yes, absolutely - you get:

- Mimic

-Polytone

- Ripley

- The new reverb

- a few other simpler effect plugins

- a vastly improved Combinator

- many new patches, some of them showcasing the new Combinator
high

- high resolution graphics including resizability

- some other changes (not all of them to the better unfortunately)

I finally couldn't resist Thomann's offer, which ends today and it was at 135€. There are many changes, mostly positive, compared to version 11, which was the last one I used. I hope to try beta 14 soon.

Yeah, for that price, so many Reason Rack devices and a revamped sequencer—you can't beat that.

Does anyone know whether you pay for minor upgrades with Reason Studios? For example, would 14.1 be paid?

Post

In the past, all updates leading up to the next major release (which would be v15) were free

I ended up buying the upgrade after skipping 13, even though the only thing I really want is the new reverb (I’m a sucker for reverb). Looks like I made the right choice because I’m already enjoying using Polytone and Ripley a lot more than I thought I would, the smaller devices are useful additions, and the browser is a big improvement even though many have been quite critical of it. Looking forward to more details about 14!
