”Invisible Lines” started as a piano piece with the intention of adding multiple layers of instruments. Sometimes I struggle with picking one or more “lead” instruments to focus on melody. This time I went with guitar and trumpet. I am a returning trumpet player (the last time I played “seriously” was middle school) and these parts took the longest.

I have also been focused on arranging the piece in a way that brings different instruments in different sections to add variety and reduce the density in a layered piece. I have several synthesizer tracks that come in and out of the piece.

All the parts were played in real time with some light editing.

I have also been moving away from AI generated cover art. I took this photograph at the Delaware beach on our last trip there.

Hey Jeremy, great stuff as always. You're one of the few people here who when they post something I go out of my way to listen to it, regardless of what I'm doing. This one sounds improvised. Was it? If not you managed to do something few people can do, write a piece and make it sound improvised. It's harder than you think. I can't do it.

Ohh, great! You've woven the piano motif with the trumpet licks and
guitar playing in the most interesting way, creating a thrilling track.
Fantastic! :tu:

Thanks so much! I developed a few themes and melodies and then improvised the piano track around the themes and melodies. The other tracks were partially improvised but I tried to follow the structure of the piano part.

Thanks very much! That was the general idea. I like improvised music but I think repeated melodies and themes helps bring everything together.

Really nice! On of my favorites from you.
When the data is corrupt in the Desert of the Real, Beyond the Last Thought, where intuition reigns, is the solace that will embolden and strengthen the soul, giving hope once more to this age of failing technique. eassae.com

Excellent! I like the opening groove and how successfully you have moved the instruments into and out of foreground and background. Love the jazzy vibe too.

jcub,
I was mentally prepared to review some of your newer tunes, though they disappeared. This song is very cool though! If I ever heard you played trumpet, I forgot. Sounds like a huge band of talented players. Rather jazzy, though kind of reminds me of Toto at times (a compliment). Quite a bit of complexity happening on this song. High quality stuff man! I will post a new song within an hour, perhaps you can check it out.
