i read on KvR Audio about a Vintage Warmer update; so i went to my PSP Audioware account to update Vintage Warmer to 2.11, but i couldn't find it in "My Plugins". in "My Store" there was a paid update (9.99$). neither have i received an email, nor is it mentioned on KvR Audio's news page. that's odd, imo.

I got the email.
I emailed them about it.
It was accurate.
I wished them well.
In Part, this is what it said:

So is symbolic money different to real money?

i just checked my emails again, but no, i haven't received a real mail, maybe something symbolic or just bucolic, but this is part of my imagination, i guess.
tbh., i understand PSP Audioware's needs, but the way, they do it, is questionable.
i'd like to see a new version of N2O with a bigger screen and a better browser and well, here's my wallet ... .

Just checked when I purchased Vintage Warmer 2: July 2017
Yeah I'm OK with paying less than £1 for every year of use to get the latest version !

So it's questionable that they don't force you to spend money?mellotronaut wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 12:48 pm i just checked my emails again, but no, i haven't received a real mail, maybe something symbolic or just bucolic, but this is part of my imagination, i guess.

you want to have a sham discussion. they can't force me to spend money anyway. it's just not sexy to make me an "offer" this way.rasmusklump wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 1:50 pmSo it's questionable that they don't force you to spend money?mellotronaut wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 12:48 pm i just checked my emails again, but no, i haven't received a real mail, maybe something symbolic or just bucolic, but this is part of my imagination, i guess.

They sent out a new email awhile ago, explaining their position better or at least more in depth..
I suspect if you didn't get it, maybe it went to spam or you had unsubscribed to their newsletter awhile ago.

I’ve not used VW2 for years. I guess my options are to continue with my present path, or pay $9.99 and force myself to start using it again… or not. I’m all for paying for upgrades, but a minor update seems silly.
How does VW2 compare with other modern “glue” compressors? As good? Better? Just a different flavor?

I prefer to pay $9.99 every once in while every few years for optional continued updates than being forced into a subscription or overpriced update/support plans. I think it's the right way to do it and a reasonable price to ask for.

It's always been more of a saturator with compression IMO, I still like it sometimes. I don't know if there's any reason to upgrade though, still works here. On the other hand $10 isn't any amount of money to worry about, won't even get you a meal at McDonalds around here.zerocrossing wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 5:44 pm I’ve not used VW2 for years.
