Wow. Now I have heard them. Very good. I dont care too much about this style, but these are among best buzz songs I have heard.
Much better than I was able to do with it. Well, back then I knew nothing about eq.ing or compression. Even today I know very little.

strange.....buzz was also MY most productive time ...quincy wrote:Yeah pretty much.CypherOne wrote:aren't you falling into the 'Liam Howlett uses Reason' trap?
But f**k it, i used to use buzz and buzz alone for a couple years and it was probably my most productive time.
Plus this baby is free, not a few hundred quid like reason!!
Anyway yeah you're right, but sod it

from the first time i heard edgemeer i knew buzz was pretty powerful. in fact a lot of the heads i knew when i was first getting into electronic music were using it. i was never able to wrap my mind around the whole tracker concept - but my point is - buzz can do some serious damage in the right hands.

I do love using Buzz and other hosts, and some native synths/fx layers you can do are unmatched in my opinion by VSTs.... I mean some are really original... some filters are quite nice. Also like the samplers in Buzz, many are really fun to mangle loops with.quincy wrote: I actually think the key might be careful layering and/or EQ of multiple buzz synths.
I have some Buzz songs online, more coming soon. The song made in Buzz are:

In buzzmachines.com you can download readymade generator/effect combinations. Kind of modular patches. Check out stuff made by S. van Leeuwn. He or she has done some very pro trance sounds.
I am not hundred % sure about name, only 99%.

I see. Shit, I can't ever grasp the idea of trackers. When I take a look at all those numbers I just loose interest.

Speaking as a fellow trance producer and A&R on a dutch Trance label, these tracks are as standard as it gets, something that would have worked back in 98/99, but not something that works now, because it's been used and abused 10 fold. You have to be involved in the scene to truly appreciate a great trance record from a production and composition stand point. I've not used buzz so I can't comment on how difficult it is to produce with it, but none of the tracks I've heard on his website scream "amazing production" to my ears. If you want to check out what magic someone can do with Buzz, then I suggest you check out James Holden's work.
To all the people who say that trance is easy to produce, I challenge you to make a track that would be deemed release worthy in this day and age, and if you do, send it over and I'll make sure its released

but that's not possible, trance is an old 90's music style, how would you produce trance tracks that sounds actually okI challenge you to make a track that would be deemed release worthy in this day and age
Or maybe you're talking about "psy-trance" or hermetic stuff like that

thanks everyone for your kind words and constructive criticisms... it is well appreciated
Arney (aka 8 wonders), thanks for the advice, but I've heard your stuff and it's nothing out of this world either... very standard, unmoving, no thrills, no chills (no interesting harmonies or melodies) generic trance composition-wise although nicely produced. Your style has been abused more than mine 10 folds more. I'm not really fond of your label and I wouldn't buy records from it because I don't like their style one bit. You have your opinion and style and I have mine, but if you want to put me to the challenge to make a track with your label's sound, I'll be more than happy to accept it, but don't get all pompous on me saying your label is today's cutting edge trance sound, when there are a bunch like yours signing obvious noobs left and right.
Deed, talk is cheap. Let's see you make a good trance track.

I don't want this to turn into a "I'm better than you thread", so I won't.gerryc wrote:thanks everyone for your kind words and constructive criticisms... it is well appreciated

As far as the label is concerned, you seem to be putting lots of words into my mouth. Firstly, not once did I mention anyone should like or dislike the stuff we put out. If you don't like the material we put out, that's your perogative, you can listen and buy records you please so don't get all touchy feely here.
I don't recall stating that the records we put out are'cutting-edge', because there is no such thing. The trance formula is old, used and abused and that is why we have 3 labels, with future expansions on the way. We don't limit ourselves to a single style, we release anything that we think is good and would be accepted well by others. Yes it's true that there are a lot of startup labels, signing material from newcomers, or 'noobs' as you politely referred to them as, but where does this leave you, still being unsigned?
The challenge was more of a joke and it would be contradictory to what you said about our label, so don't sweat it.
As for me making a 'good trance track', I have nothing to prove to you or anyone. I am happy with what I make, if anyone else likes it, that's a bonus. If the track makes it to charts, that's a bonus too.

Agree with you. Anyway as I already sayed I don't like trance (at least your kind of trance) so it would be difficult for me to make a "good" trance track as I would be unable to appreciate it myselfDeed, talk is cheap. Let's see you make a good trance track.
Hope you didn't misunderstand my words I technically really appreciate your work

Well actually it works for me.ArneyS wrote:Speaking as a fellow trance producer and A&R on a dutch Trance label, these tracks are as standard as it gets, something that would have worked back in 98/99, but not something that works now, because it's been used and abused 10 fold.
Maybe I was a real 98/99 kinda guy.
It's derivative flavour just happened to suit my palate.
For some reason this reminds me of an 80s moment.
I remember trashing Belinda Carlisle because all her songs sounded exactly the same.
Someone countered with: "So are Madonna's".
And I replied with: "Maybe - but I liked Madonna's first song".
