I know this has been discussed before, but because there's a group buy on Trash happening now I'd like to ask how Trash compares to Amplitube and Guitar Rig (in terms of quality, features, CPU-load etc). Anyone tried all them all and can compare?

Well, there is a demo of trash. So do try it out.
Guitar Rig will give you more flexibility I imagine, and it comes with a hardware foot controller, Do you need that?
Haven't tried Amplitude, I'm afraid.

amplitube is a great effect especially for turning acoustic samples into an electric.. my choice is guitar rig... i use it alot and it offers every single model that hardware processors offer! its truely something the sound quality in my opinion is better than trash and amplitube..........but if i had a choice between amplitube and trash amplitube would the way to go its more streamlined for me when it comes to guitar and extremely easy to use.....if you get guitar rig the pedal comes with it with like a boss processor so its recommended that you use it so you have more control over the software though you don't necessarily have to use it you can simple plug you guitar elsewhere and pull the software up and start playing.
if your an avid guitar player and want the ultimate flexibility guitar rig is the way to go it'll break the bank a lil but trust me its worth it

I personally like Trash a great deal. It has some unique capabilities for sound design. I must point out that Trash and Amplitube are very distinct in the way they sound and the way they interface.
I have only checked out the Amplitube demo and loved what I heard. I am planning on getting Amplitube as soon I gather the funds.
I know that this does not answer your question but I would get both if possible. If not, then demo both -
On more point about Trash - it has excellent automation. I don't know if the demo allows it but there are endless and amazing parameter tweaking possibilities that automate beautifully in Sonar Fruity and Live. I don't remember if Amplitube demo can be automated but I have been told it is eqaully capable in that regard.

I would honestly suggest that you save your money.
Look at cortex , guitarsuite, tubebaby and revolverb-lite ( a 0-latency convolution plugin) with some cabinet impulses. Wonderful things can be done with these.
All of them are free.

I agree with that in part but I went another way that is still cheap and I am really finding has great possibilities. I have AmplitubeLIVE/LE. A lot of free plugins, like the ones mentioned and some others like the new distortion by Slim Slo Slider sound great when placed before Amplitube. Even though AmpLIVE is limited by comparison to the full version there are heaps of sound possibilities if you try multiple effects together. Energy XT combimed with this cheaper version of Amplitube and a heap of free effects makes for an excellent guitar FX rack in my opinion.scuzzphut wrote:I would honestly suggest that you save your money.
