Here's some information about the rules, the structure and the philosophy of this competition:
1. Submissions >>> A Free-For-All Event:
Go wild devs!!! Any platform, any type... Anything that will assist in music making goes! Submissions will begin on June 15th and end on September 14th. They will all be released "AT ONCE" for public voting on September 15th; RIGHT HERE AT KVR!!! Be yourself, be anonymous, we will not hold anything against you.
With your submissions, consider open source, dual platform and anything else that might make things better for this whole community.
2. Voting:
Voting will begin on September 15th and end on September 30th.(Depending on the amount of submissions, the voting period might be extended for another week or so)
The voting system is not in place yet, but upon discussing it with Ben, I'm sure we will come up with a really effective way.
The results will be posted no later than October 1st. (This has a strong dependency on the voting system, but even if I have to count them by hand
Voters will have to have signed up to KvR on May 15th the latest... They will also have to have at least 50 posts.
When voting, there's no question that you will vote for your favorite(s). However, please keep in mind that these are the people who have put countless hours of work into the toys we play with right now, in hopes that we will enjoy them. Most of them have full time jobs other than making plugins. They do this purely because of their generosity. You may not like the personality of a developer, you may not have ever heard of him, you may have a strong liking for him because of some other plugin he had made previously. He may be your buddy, he may be your "internet enemy". Try to ignore everything that will affect your voting and cause it to be unfair. Just think of all of them as very generous people who are doing this for us!!Please vote fairly without any discriminations!!
Also keep in mind that a developer may release the source for a plugin, or make it dual platform. Any such action deserves extra praise for the developer who went the extra mile to make it better for all of us.
3. Beta Testing:
There will be beta testers available if developers would like to utilize them. The way it works will be decided upon soon.
4. Winning:
The winner, for now, wins the $500.00 that I'm putting down for this competition. Ben has set up a PayPal account where people can go and donate so more developers can win!!! The money will be held in a KvR escrow account and I don't think anybody will doubt the trustworthiness of such an account. I have faith in you.
Let's keep it as simple as possible for everybody, so instead of arguing, we can actually get something good to actually take place.
